I would really loathe doing that with Gaslight haha. Even the songs on Get Hurt and other albums I would consider my least favorite are songs I actually enjoy.
Lol I understand. It just felt like autopilot Gaslight to me I guess. Ain't That a Shame may be worse. What would you pit in last?
Good question haha. Give me some time because I don't have one on the top of my head. I'll report back!
I would like to state for the record and for my image that Desire is a perfectly fine song and I'd give it a C at worst, it's just swimming in a sea of A's.
If the bonus songs count, it would probably be American Slang acoustic because my favorite acoustic version of that song is the Sirius XM rendition. If I had to pick something different it would probably either be Mama's Boys or the Nirvana cover since that is not one of my favorite Nirvana songs.
Oh man. I agree with the acoustic nod, most of the acoustic versions on Rarities really butcher the melody of the songs imo. The Nirvana cover is indeed real bad. But Mama's Boys would prob be in my top 25. I think if those Get Hurt b-sides were released as an EP it'd be one of my top releases from them
Eh, I'd take "Desire" over "Too Much Blood", that song really weighs the mid-section down. I'd take that song out, put "Desire" in its place, then put "Blue Dahlia" where "Desire" was. Even if Desire is a filler song, that still leaves you with Howl, Biloxi, Blue Dahlia, Mae and National Anthem as the back-half, and that's a beautiful thing.
Is anyone here opposed to doing a Bracket Tournament for Gaslight like in the other threads? I was thinking about starting one.
I'm down for it right until something from Get Hurt wins and then I'll never visit this thread again.
Alright, I'm gonna go through their discography, put together the match-ups, get the formatting from one of the other threads and start it tonight.
I have no idea how it all works. I was going to message the people running the brackets in the ETID, TBS and Brand New threads to see how they did it.
I think if you have a list of the songs in excel you can just run a formula to select two options. Once two songs are picked, delete them from the list. And just do that until there are no more songs. To me, randomly pairing the songs is better than someone using their judgment on which songs to pair.
I agree. I'm doing mock-match up's right now and treating it as if I had the records on vinyl, i.e. the top of side A vs. the top of side B, and moving on the track list from there.
Oh yeah that's the point. We'd be doing this album by album, determining which is the best song from each album, and then having the best songs from each album face off in a championship round. We'd also be having the runner-ups facing off in a wild card round too.
Oh. I would not have thought to have it setup that way, but to each their own. I would have done it wide open.
