Wow, That seems a bit small for them, no? That's where Brian's solo show was supposed to be last Jan.
IT IS FUCKING GLORIOUS! Brian's singing sounds like an extension of his more recent solo work to me and the band sound FIRED UP to be back. Benny is killing those drums. Love the song already and can't wait to hear what else they've been working on. So great to have them back.
Song seems like a good song, but the mixing/production is so bad to my ears. The drums sound like a 64kbps leak, the rhythm guitar is nonexistent in the chorus, and the vocals just sound... off. Like I said, if this was a demo, I would be very excited to hear the final product, but as is this is not for me.
Yes, Peter Katis produced both Local Honey and this. He has done most The National albums and a lot of big indie/rock stuff. Greg and Kurt also engineered Local Honey and have pretty strong catalogs. Kurt seems to be the understudy with fewer credits. Edit: @ScubaSteve182
After a headphones listen, I agree. The song is great, but the mix sounds off. Brian's vocals sound way too far back in the mix compared to the instruments.
Some of you just can’t be happy haha. i personally absolutely love the song and can’t imagine better comeback single.Melody, lyrics, guitars…everythings just perfect. it would fit right on Sleepwalker, which is probably my favorite Brian’s record, but with all the boys and it just makes me even more excited for this new era.
Just blasted this song in the car with the windows down and between the feeling of hearing these guys being back doing what they do and the words Brian sings in this really hitting home I actually got a little misty eyed for a few seconds. Not straight up crying, but I had to blink a few times so I could see better. This.
nah lets not do the thing where we give the folks who don't like it shit lol, its fine. we can all co-exist.
Yeah there’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking issue with the production/mix or not being completely in love with a song lol
the lyrics in this song are reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally hitting some spots right now. man.
The production comparison in my brain right now is After The Party to Hello Exile, but Handwritten to this.
