I would replace Sweet Morphine with nearly anything, but Dark Places should absolutely be played.

 

Sweet morphine is whatever and Halloween is overrated.

 

Hard disagree with pretty much all of these takes. Sweet Morphine & Halloween are both phenomenal. Stay Vicious is awesome too.

 

You all be nicer so they don’t go away again!

 

If a band plays only 2 songs I don’t love during 20+ song set I can’t complain at all. I do love how Gaslight always mixes their sets up and plays a variety of sets during tours. You never really know what they are going to pull out on any given night. Incredibly stoked for the first show of the US leg. It’ll be my first club show in over 4 years which is insane. I can’t believe we are lucky enough to have this band playing shows again.

 

Halloween is just ok for me. Dark places is waaaay better.

 

Is Halloween liked enough universally to be overrated?
I like Sweet Morphine.

 

I'm surprised by the "meh" resp to Sweet Morphine--that's always been a favorite of mine.

I could have probably put Elsie on the same tier as American Slang and Handwritten, I just don't reach for it nearly as much.

I started off super low on that album but I went back to it a while after release and it really clicked that second trip. Still not my favorite but plenty to love there.

 

I don't go back to it as much as I should. Kind of a tough revisit on some levels, since it really makes me think of when it came out, which was a particularly miserable and hopeless patch of the pandemic. But some of his best songs are on there. "Hard Feelings" deserves more love.

 

Order is basically interchangeable within the tiers, and there's no album of his I don't like. I even had the This Charming Man record on the other day, which doesn't hold a candle to anything that came later but is still a really fun listen.

I really need to go back and check out Local Honey again. That album came out right as the pandemic started to upend my life, and I spent a little time with it but my mind was elsewhere through that whole cycle.

 

Local Honey is my go-to post-wedding DJ gig drive home music. A very nice break for the ears.

I think I fully agree with this although I would probably put Sink Or Swim in Top Tier and Local Honey in second although it could go either way
