Def not 2012 because one of my good buddies saw him outside a bar in Boston and bummed a cigarette off him lol … led to them chatting for almost an hour which is pretty cool
I’m not getting my hopes up — and I’m absolutely thrilled that it looks like I’m gonna get to see them live again — but this all certainly feels a bit different than what we got in 2018. The teases, the new group picture, etc…..it feels like something more than “it’s Handwritten’s anniversary so we’re doing one tour and then breaking off again.” Either way I have something Gaslight Anthem related to look forward to and I 100% did not see that coming this year. So this rules. I think.
Even if it is ~just~ a tour I’m just so happy to be excited about something with this band, which is my favorite band. The opportunity to see them again is literally all I could ask for. Anything more is a ridiculous and extreme bonus.
It’s definitely a reunion tour but I love Handwritten and I have never seen them live outside of an early morning ACL set.
I really would like the chance to see them live one more time - seen them twice - once pre-59 Sound at Asbury Lanes (still the best show I have ever been to, The Riot Before opened for them) & then once more at Agora Ballroom in Cleveland during the 59 Sound tour (Good Old War opened, only time I've seen the crowd demand one more song from an opening act).
I saw Gaslight three times during their original run and twice on the The ‘59 Sound 10 Year Tour. What was really interesting on the last tour was going to the third show at The Bowery Ballroom and then the final show at the Stone Pony SummerStage. The energy and enthusiasm from the band between the two shows felt very different. And Brian was understandably annoyed at the “Bruuuuuce”chants during the final show, eventually saying he wasn’t there. Between that show, what Brian said in interviews after the tour, and gossip in Jersey, I did not see this coming. Super happy to get to see them at least one more time.
Was at the final stone pony show as well and was convinced bruce was there when they skipped the 59 sound in its album spot so they could play it last lol
yes make ian perkins a member. benny was still lips sealed in the going off track patreon discord, even if he said something i would still just say thing have been said and not spoil it. last friday (7 days ago) on the tune up he said by next time we would know something. so news tomorrow morning?
Hahaha yeah I actually thought the same during the show since they played it in its normal spot earlier that summer.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned anywhere else in this thread but their Ticketmaster band photo has been updated to the new photo as well.
Only have seen them twice, once on the Handwritten tour, and then the ‘59 Sound reunion. Can’t wait to add more to that.
I saw them once on The ‘59 Sound when i only knew one song, and then I saw them at Reading festival in their last UK show before they broke up/went on hiatus. Hyped to see them again.
Whatever this ends up being is gonna be awesome - but nothing beats just seeing how happy Brian Fallon looks in that picture. The other guys look happy too, but he was the one that seemed to be very, very unhappy with how things were a while back.
