2008 feels like an off music year in terms of releases to me besides obvious all timers like 59' Sound. 2007 and 2009 have waaaaay more albums I return to all the time overall
2007 was an insanely stacked year, I remember that quite well Jack Mannequin's "The Glass Passenger" was 2008 as well but that doesn't hold up the same way to me as Everything In Transit - although it's still a solid album. Vampire Weekend self-titled also got a lot of play at the time.
2007 had Jimmy Eat World - Chase This Light Circa Survive - On Letting Go The Starting Line - Direction Against Me! - New Wave Bayside - The Walking Wounded Coheed & Cambria - No World For Tomorrow Fall Out Boy - Infinity On High Hidden In Plain View - Resolution Motion City Soundtrack - Even If It Kills Me Paramore - Riot! Thrice - Alchemy Index 1 & 2 Yellowcard - Paper Walls Just to name a few lol. Wild year.
I remember when I stumbled across the band, and 59 Sound was their current album at the time. I have never listened to a new album more times IN MY LIFE without tiring of it. I hammered that thing so loud and so many times for damn near a year.
yeah same, i think i found Gaslight in April of 2010 off a friend's recommendation, and i dont think I listened to anything but 59 Sound until American Slang came out later that summer lol
your getting your Thrice mixed up. Beggars was 09. Alchemy pt. 1 and 2 was 07. Your point still stands though!
Man. He’s playing get hurt tonight but I’m really over paying like 40 bucks for a not great quality solo acoustic streaming show.
Break Your Heart’s bridge is central to my theory that Brian ghostwrote Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. Great track
Someone I hated forced me to listen to ‘59 sound because I was going to that Rise Against, Alk, Thrice tour and they were opening. Kinda annoying my favorite band came from that douche haha
So good. Love to hear everything behind the songs. I hope they play some shows together again. One of my favourite live bands.
I’ve always liked that song, but yeah it was cool to hear him work through it. Also loved the explanation of that “echo” in the title track, never would have guessed that’s what it was.
