Based on the Instagram photos from Jimmy, I don't think he's singing leads. It looks like it will be guitar.
Thanks for posting this. Brian and Matthew have a lot in common in their music. I could imagine Brian covering a song like Summer Never Ends or Maybe I'll disappear and I hope his work on this influences his solo album
i just wish jimmy still had his raspy voice. yes i am being that guy. (tbh i still really like the last PBC album anyway)
Warbrain by Alkaline Trio came up on shuffle this morning, and I was teleported back to losing my mind when Gaslight covered a snippet of it over the bridge of Angry Johnny a few months before the hiatus. There was always something at their shows that felt special. I miss both of these bands a great deal.
Absolutely. I'm even having surface-level fun with Matt in blink and seeing all of his success he's having there. There is just a particular magic with these four guys on stage with a couple of hours to play. On Gaslight show memories, I went to a holiday radio show in NJ the December after American Slang released. My Chemical Romance headlined, and Gaslight of all bands was direct support. Suffice to say most kids were there for My Chem and there's not a whole lot of fan overlap there, so Gaslights set resembled more of a big jam session than anything and it was a lot of fun to watch.
I'm in the camp that has enjoyed everything but Blink between Gaslight and Alkaline Trio hiatuses. Something about the melodies just aren't working for me. Usually towards the end of the verses and through the chorus I am just not getting on board. Between all of the songs they've released there are only a few I would say I legitimately enjoy. Glad Skiba has gotten to enjoy the success though.
still disappointed skeebs did guest vocals on a fucking andy black song (eternal vomit) but whatever, it's good to see him having fun with blink even if I barely care about that band anymore. maybe it's because they play on the radio at work all the fucking time but I'm kind of over blink-182 at this point. I just want another Trio record sooner than later, and for Gaslight to fire things up again but so long as Brian keeps releasing albums as good as Painkillers in the interim, I'll be fine ha.
I've been listening to this a lot since it came out. Really enjoy it. Definitely has a Horrible Crowes vibe, especially the title track.
Is Meet Me By the Rivers Edge, Here's Lookin At You Kid, and the Backseat the best 3 song stretch in a Gaslight track list? (I know you could pick almost any 3 on this album alone...but still the final 3 destroy me every time in joy, sadness, and nostalgia.)
Yeah, without a doubt that's my favorite stretch on any Gaslight album. Three of my favorite songs all back to back to back.
Rivers Edge and Lookin' At You Kid are some of my favorites as well. I really dig the Backseat, but I don't think I love it on the level as a lot of Gaslight fans. #GaslightHotTake
American Slang, Stay Lucky, Bring It On. I think that might be the best Gaslight three song stretch. As for all of Brian's work, I don't think anything tops Rosemary, Red Lights, Long Drives.
Best three song stretch is Wherefore Art Thou, Elvis? > Say I Won't > Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts. Let's fight about it.
I can't find a better one than the last 3 on '59 Sound, but I'll give honorable mention to: 1) 45, Handwritten, Here Comes My Man 2) We Came to Dance, 1930, Navesink
