Shape Shift is solid but certainly not better than the 3 previous albums to me I kinda hate "Norse Truth" and "Pro Vision L3" Solo album is just okay as well Hoping next album is terrific
I’m flying to LA in October for their full album shows bc, yes I truly love the early albums, but Clarity —> TDB is a top five album run for me, and I am so fucking pumped. Hearing them all in full is gonna be a trip, and I am riding that wave.
I love Against Me! But it’s hard to pick a favorite because they’re all so different and mean different things to me.
I wasn't big on White Crosses when it was first released but that's their album I end up going back to most often now
Bumping this thread to talk about “Have Mercy” because I listened to it for the first time in a little while and it’s easily a top 10 TGA song. Everything about it is haunting and perfect.
I don't have a definitive personal ranking of their best songs, but "Have Mercy" for me is in the running for their best song.
Disagree on "Have Mercy." I don't hate it, but wouldn't put it in the top ten (or 20) of my favorite/best TGA songs. I will say that it sounds better live than the studio version, but I'm probably in the minority there.
Have Mercy is great, but there is a lot of greatness there to pick from. Excited for a new record from Brian.
I know the Bruce comparisons were played out long ago, but anyone else ever feel like this song was the template for the Horrible Crowes sound? Sorta? Either way it totally reminds me of that vibe and I'd love to hear Brian cover this one.
I don't know if it makes my top 10 or not, but def in that 10-15 range. I don't listen to it as much since it isn't on Spotify so I need to put "effort" in to go listen ... but every time I do I remember how much I love it.
I always contend that song wasn't finished when they recorded it, and it was perfected live on stage.
Factoring in his solo and Horrible Crowes work, I agree that it’s not a top 10 song (maybe top 15 or 20 for me), but in terms of only TGA songs, it’s up there.
