we also got realy really great slower renditions of Mae and National Anthem last night as well which I forgot about until just now.
The Violent Gent. pop up shop is great, some good limited merch and gaslight guitars and prints displayed on the walls. Really cool to see some of these things. Esp the guitar played by bruce at the 2009 Hyde Park show that i definitely asked if it was for sale and was slighlty relieved to hear it was not.
Tbh I find it unlikely that a band of this size on good terms with one another would not play more reunion shows sometime
I’m imagining IF it happens it’ll be within the next 10 minutes. .....Constantly checking Instagram and Twitter.....
Damn, I really thought all the stars aligned for it to happen. Either way, what a great moment and I’m happy you got to see it! What did he say in his speech?
pretty much never give up, if they can do it yoo can do it, if you look around and dont see what you like make it what you like, never settle. Nobody ever believed in them but it didnt stop them. Nice way to go out of what was a great weekend of celebrating that album.
His speech at the end was great and even got me a bit teary eyed. Also solidified my opinion that he needs to start a podcast in his down time. I was in the same boat though once they skipped '59 Sound I was convinced they would play it last with Bruce. Still an amazing weekend and I'm so glad I made it to 2 dates.
Anything about this being the last show ever? I’m not holding my breath or anything but us west coasters (and well, everybody else to be honest) would like for it to not be the end haha...
I have to assume if this was it, there would have been an announcement. That said, i don’t think there are any plans at all for them to continue anything any time soon, i would not be surprised to hear nothing from them for years now that this is all done and Brian can go back to working solo, and Jared Hart and Alex (or Benny...) are in a band together that has an album coming out soon so everyone seems busy doing other things.
Was at rhe show last night incredible. Wanted to buy one of the asbury event t shirts but they told me they sold out of them on Saturday night any chance someone picked up an extra? Will pay double! Need a large or xl. Thanks!
Not sure I'll keep this, because I may be too OCD BUT ---- as someone who loves Get Hurt and defends it as one of the best TGA albums, yet passionately hates the album cover, I swapped it out for this in my Apple Music library:
Brian played “Underneath the Ground” last night and i was just bored during it. To each their own of course but i cannot imagine returning to that record at all.
It’s been a staple in nearly every show since that album came out and I don’t know why. Definitely a boring song on the album, especially live.
I was at the show last night too, and def expected Bruce to come out after they had skipped the 59 Sound during the album run-through. Even though it didn't happen, it was still an amazing show. They looked so happy to be there, and the rest of the crowd was sooo fucking loud haha it was amazing. Also, Jared Hart's opening set was awesome, and Chuck Ragan was in top form as per usual. IF that's last show I ever get to see from the band, I'm happy with it. They really put their all into that show. I do think they'll return though in another 2 or 3 years.
I love Underneath the Ground and most of Get Hurt. I doubt this is the last show they do. Probably won't do anything soon but I definitely think there will at least be more shows in the future.
It was a great show, crowd was good, rain held off, and they pretty much played every song I wanted to hear.
Brian seems to really love that song lol. He's talked about that and "Stay Vicious" in interviews as examples of songs he really loves off Get Hurt. I like "Underneath the Ground" but it's definitely not the one I'd want to hear live. I was happy to get "Helter Skeleton" and "Halloween" in Boston though.
