This is so hard. In no particular order: Handwritten Miles Davis and the Cool Mulhooland Drive Cowgirls Backseat/American slang/mae
1930 Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts Even Cowgirls Get the Blues/Patient Ferris Wheel We Did it When We Were Young/Queen of Lower Chelsea Mulholland Drive nah haha
Top 5 generally would prob be something like... Blue jeans, Miles Davis, Mulholland, American Slang, &.... Stay Lucky (obvs). Shout out/honorable mention to Halloween.
We Came To Dance Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts High Lonesome She Loves You [Behold The Hurricane] Here Comes My Man 1,000 Years [Nobody Wins] [Etta James]
Oh snap! 1930 Say I Won't (Recognize) - Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts [Tie] Meet Me By The River's Edge Stay Lucky [Sugar] Mae Have Mercy [Molly and the Zombies version of Long Drives] [Open All Night] [Watson]
I don't know if any Crowes/Fallon solo songs would crack my top five. Maybe "Etta James." "Open All Night," "Nobody Wins," "Watson," and "Behold the Hurricane" would all be pretty close.
Going back and listening to all of his songs just reinforced how futile it is, at least for me, to try to pick a Top 5 with this guy. I just don't have clear songs that are absolute favorites in a ranked order. While none of them would crack my Brian Fallon All Time Best List, the songs on the This Charming Man Every Little Secret EP are pretty damn strong all things considered. They still hold up for me, and I actually listen to them a lot.
They’re terrified of getting scrutinized (again) for an album and thinking it will taint their discography. I do hope these shows, and 3-4 years of getting older and adding perspective, makes them not give a fuck about that and go back to the studio to have fun and do what they love.
This will always bug me about fans of anything. Why does it always have to be more? Just enjoy what they do and if they do more great and if not it’s been great.
Constantly nagging someone to do something they don’t want to do/don’t feel comfortable doing is a weird form of love. Especially after they’ve expressed why they don’t want to numerous times.
"I love your music. So make more of it or I'll assume you're just touring so you can take our money." I want another TGA album as much as anyone else. But they're a group of adult humans that none of us know personally so yeah I'm cool with just letting them do what they want
Next Brian Fallon album, produced by Ted Hutt, with Alex Rosamilia and Ian Perkins playing guitar, Alex Levine stopping by the studio to lay down some sweet bass lines and Benny Horowitz guesting on the drums, title: Recrudescencers.
