Man driving home to long island from asbury on a sunday night with work the next morning sounds awful but if there is any possible shot of bruce coming out.....its worth the chance entirely.
Book a hotel for the night and call in sick. Could be the last Gaslight show for a very long time, plus a chance for a Bruce appearance.
I already got tickets for the Friday Asbury date but I'm gonna shoot for Sunday too, I know I'll end up regretting it if I don't.
ugh i get back from my honeymoon a week before this and we are both in a wedding on 8/17, i have my PTO for the year completely used up lol
man August 19th could be the last show TGA ever plays it would be incredibly fitting to have Bruce out there with them for it at some point in the night. i need to be at both.
This also makes me sad cause I don’t want it to end. If there was a perfect ending it would be this show with a special guest appearance...but I just wish they felt they had more to say musically.
They were never broken up? Idk, unless I missed a memo at some point I was under the impression it was always just a hiatus. I actually asked my cousin who's their guitar tech (unfortunately not with them for these gigs) if he knew of any plans to get things rolling again in the near future (apart from the anniversary shows) and he seemed to think there was a really good chance we'd get a new album sooner than later.
While I don't think it's impossible that they release an album at some point down the line, there is definitely no plans at all to make one in the near future
Based off the everything they’ve said in interviews they’ve made it damn clear no plans after were happening. BUT these were before the shows so let’s fucking hope these shows persuade them.
i don't suspect we will have a new record in the next few years, but i think i think we'll get some gigs every 1-2 years for the foreseeable future source: none
I wouldnt expect any American Slang shows but hopefully they will at least maybe stay active on the festival circuits
They've made it pretty clear there's no album in the near future and they're doing this because it seemed fun and a good way to commemorate a special time in their lives. I vote just enjoy it for what it is and if more comes great and if not then it's been a great run.
To be honest, I'd be content if Gaslight just showed up and played shows every now and then. A lot of the "reunion" albums that have been coming out from bands that had broken up or taken long hiatuses recently have been awful at worst (Refused) to solid at best (Thrice). I'd rather Gaslight just pull a Texas is the Reason and come back and play shows for special occasions/festivals. The Chicago show in August will probably be the last time I try to actively see them.
i respect all of your reasonable, grounded hopes for their future and choose to continue down my road of unfounded optimism and inevitable disappointment
Reiterating Slowdive - it's their best album. Although it's not completely comparable to Gaslight here, I mean that was like a 20 year hiatus!
