You should have gone to Brian's solo shows. This is like when fans in Jersey ask to play Springsteen songs. It makes me what to pull my hair out. Not to be rude or anything but it's a '59 sound ten year show! C'mon now!
Oh I’m sure you’ll have plenty of Brian Fallon shows in the future over Gaslight shows. I love both his solo albums and both may be my albums of their respective year, but I’ll take Gaslight 100 out of 100 times!
there were these awful shirtless dudebros around me doing ANYTHING to get attention on themselves. the superdork in the glasses specifically. one of them trying to open a pit to shit like Miles Davis. they were all recording selfie video of themselves singing along, gesturing to all the lyrics and turning around and screaming them in other people’s faces, etc. superdork tried to that to the end of Howl but clearly didn’t know the words and just mumbled bullshit and looked like an idiot. it really felt like they just wanted everyone in the crowd to know they knew the words. when Brian sang “Cookman Ave” in Blue Jeans they were like “DUDE COOKMAN DUDE OMG” and did a big dumb group hug over it. this is related because superdork kept screaming “GREAT EXPECTATIONS”. motherfucker, they are playing that entire record. after they played that, he switched to shouting “ANGRY JOHNNY” til they were done. superdork sucked.
Also have had some bad experiences with fans at gaslight shows. That’s always weird to me, like, do you know what band you’re seeing? Why are you moshing to this?
That's like when I went to Alkaline Trio's Past Live show at the time when Skiba became Blink memeber and people would yell ,,Play some Blink songs!!!" Then I went to the Blink show and people were yelling ,,Yoo play some Alkaline Trio!!!" I don't know if the people are just stupid or wanna show everybody around that they KNOW THIS and THIS or what.
Also with the Gaslight shows,I remember 4 years ago on Get hurt run in Boston there was even guy with Nacho Libre mask on starting mosh pit
That Cookman shit resonates so hard. There are some real pieces of shit that go wild for Gaslight in the Asbury area.
Haha yea it was show with Against Me! In HOB.it was skinny white dude,no shirt, with that mask throwing kicks in the air...I thought I was on wrong show haha
Brian has definitely called people out on it in the past too, I remember seeing them during the Handwritten tour cycle and when people kept trying to start a pit he told the crowd "Listen, we're just not that kind of band, alright?"
I remember that during the Handwritten tour too in Philly. There was a bunch of people pushing and crowd-surfing and he wasn’t about that at all.
Currently watching the full show on Youtube, and goddamn, they sound great. Like it's been said previously, they haven't missed a beat. Side-note: I'm so used to seeing Alex Levine clean-shaven but the beard's a good look for him.
Once I got into the festival and saw the average attendee, I had a bad feeling there would be a small turnout for Gaslight, and I was not wrong. The rain really didn't help things either. Was still a fun day overall seeing the Zingers, Japandroids, Manchester, Pusha, Halsey, and Gaslight though
