I would just make it a 12 track record. Maybe make it the penultimate track. Nothing really needs to be cut from Handwritten imo. But I also get that parts of Handwritten arent for everyone.
yea i really like desire. it might be a little on nose lyrically but i don't care cus it's honest and makes me feel -- especially where it is in the track listing it just works for me. if you have to replace a track with blue dahlia i have no qualms with letting too much blood go. two slow paced bluesy numbers in the midsection kinda kill the momentum of the record for me. keepsake is essential tho.
I had to put on Handwritten after all this conversation. What a damn good album. I remember being in Best Buy the week the album came out and seeing they had the deluxe version on sale. I preordered the standard version on vinyl but had no idea they released the deluxe, so that was an instant buy for me. No regrets with that purchase
The Scandals EP that Brian produced is out today. It's definitely a good listen and brings me back to the Sink or Swim sound!
It was insane. Seriously, look at this setlist: The Gaslight Anthem Setlist at Saint Andrew's Hall, Detroit They played just about everything I wanted to hear, except for "Here Comes My Man," which was inexplicably absent from the set.
I remember leaving and saying to my wife, "pretty sure they just played every song they've ever written"
I want them to get back together, not even for an album, just so I can go see them again. There's nothing better than Gaslight shows with all my friends. I miss it. Also not to undersell my statement above I should note if they did get back together, a new Gaslight album would easily be a top 3 most anticipated album of all time for me.
I think it'd be fair to assume another full Brian solo album cycle would be up first...so 2019 for Gaslight maybe if we are lucky. Just a guess if it even happens.
People don't dislike Stray Paper. One person says something and it makes it seem more widespread. Not the case. Its just another really good Gaslight song. They don't really have any weak tracks.
