Really glad the band did this. I loved the album already, but this breathes so much life into it. I’m happy a lot of people will be able to appreciate it more now.
Yeah, sounds like intentional surface pop/noise. And I can barely hear it. Unless we're talking about something else that I'm not hearing on that song.
Yall are so damn weird. People complain about the original mix, we get a new one that sounds great but now there’s a made up issue about something that’s clearly not a click track.
I didn't really notice it through my AirPods this morning. But the moment I switched over to my bigger cans, I thought I had a wire loose or something in my amp. 100% not present in the original. Only complaint really. I can't believe how good everything else sounds.
Yeah AirPods are fine but in my cans the ticking sound is so disruptive it ruins the song. Creating a custom playlist to swap in the old version for that one
That popping noise's prominence is 100% dependent on what you listen to it on. On my bookshelf speakers it is obnoxious. Agreed on using the old mix there. It is clearly intentional, though, it's the same rhythm as the drums later in the song. Anyways, I'm so happy for this mix otherwise, completely turned around my ability to get into this album.
Is it only in the right channel for everyone else or just me? Might just be my hearing loss in my left ear. But I notice on AirPods quite easily, ruins the updated version for me, tbh.
This is amazing. Sounds so dramatically better across the board. Going to fall in love with this album all over again.
As someone that has been recently vocal about how much I've grown to eye roll all "production talk" on new releases, this is so clearly an upgrade on an album I never had an issue with how it sounded and loved just the same. I like the vinyl mix/master and think it sounds really good on wax. But this digital version is awesome.
As I'm listening specifically for the popping noise and thinking about what it could be if it's not explicitly intentional (drum loop artifact is my best guess), Brian comes in with the "what's that sound?" lyric which got a good laugh out of me.
100%. I also think this new mix really demonstrates how good the back half the album is. Local Honey coded as the kids say.
Production/mixing issues tend to be much bigger deals for bands I’m only a fringe fan of, and that’s TGA for me. I’m much more forgiving of it with bands I love.
