Holy fuck the four on the floor drums on the chorus into the “BOM/BOM/BOM/BOM/BOMBOM” rhythm section just strings me up and hits me like a fish that has finally had enough of the water and is ready to walk on land. I am very high and this song is pushing me higher.
I like the new Stapleton song (came out today too) more on first listen than this. HOWEVER I will give this about 100 listens and am sure it will grown on me.
Ohhhh man that AP exclusive looks fantastic but yeah I'm happy with the split variant bc I don't have to pay for three months.
“I think this is the ‘recognizing what you have’ era. It’s definitely us remembering, and I’m not saying that it’s our definitive record, but it defines now. It’s everything we’ve done, and there’s maybe some stuff that’s different, and there’s maybe some stuff that’s not different, but it’s definitely a defining point in our career, of reminding us of who we are. We’re the band that plays the rock songs that encourage you. We’re this band!” Brian Fallon: “I wanted to make sure I could write songs… | Kerrang!
Reading this the week I went on medication specifically for my anxiety just fucking sucker punched me, what incredible timing.
Song is great. Love hearing Bruce on a Gaslight song. Hope I'm wrong, but I feel like people are going to be grousing about the production on this one for a decade. It's Damage all over again!
History Books and Positive Charge back to back as comparison points make more sense production wise - was curious how the latter would work in context and it doesn't seem egregious or like it sticks out. I think I get more of what they were going for now. Aside from all that, two fucking fantastic songs right here.
best of luck with the meds brother. When I went on for anxiety I noticed an increase in symptoms before it got better, so just be prepared for that if it may happen, you’re on the right path.
Yeah, I think it will work out just fine on a record, but it's definitely a sonic departure from what they were doing before. I also think it's not just the production, but just the range in which Brian is singing. These vocal lines sit lower than a bit lower in his range than a lot of their past stuff, particularly Handwritten. He's not howling in the way he used to on a lot of Gaslight songs.
grabbed the rough trade exclusive. may double or triple dip with other variants later on. feels good to indulge in news and material about this band again.
