one of my tattoos is a variation of this old tour poster with the lyrics "stay hungry stay free and do the best you can"
I'll admit that I've never been a massive Gaslight fan, just casually enjoyed some songs here and there. But I am bouncing off this record very hard almost entirely due to how it sounds, drums and vocals in particular. Definitely bummed as I was hoping this would be the one that got me on board a bit more. Glad people are enjoying it though!
First off, divorce is better than Dance. Second off both are inferior to 1930. Thirdly Angry Johnny also better than both. I have spoken and it is fact. (it’s not, it’s all good, enjoy what you enjoy.)
A few tours ago when they were playing Divorce as the encore, I think encore closer, almost every night was SO GREAT. Was a very welcome surprise as I don't think they had played it much previously. That song rocks so hard.
On my 3rd listen to the new one - Weatherman just "clicked" for me. Little Fires and Room Above seem like they will be incredible live. Little Fires reminds me of Howl a little bit
Stay Vicious fucking rules. This quote was a good one: “but the big thing that really closed the gap for me was that I realized there is nothing that I can do in The Gaslight Anthem that I would need to go and make a record solo for, because we left that avenue open back on Sink Or Swim when we did “The Navesink Banks” and all those songs. I don’t see why there has to be a difference. There doesn’t have to be a difference.” I’m still hoping he eventually works a lot more of his discography into the set. If he’s not going to do full solo tours, it’d be a shame for those songs to never see the live stage again.
For the record, I don't hate "Stay Vicious." I just think it's a pretty boring live song and would rather have any of like three dozen other songs in the slot it consistently takes up in the set.
for the record i hate the song, it's like a b-side to a bad stone temple pilots record i have come around big time to underneath the ground though
