Yeah, i kinda get people being sad there isn't one more ripper, but when a band that has Blue Jeans, National Anthem, Here's Looking At You Kid etc etc wants to go more mellow, i'm not gonna complain lol
I'm curious what b-sides there are for this. I know Brian said he didn't think they missed this time like they have in the past, but i volunteer to be the judge of that haha
Like not trying to be a jerk because people are of course entitled to think whatever they want about any album, but i'm always a little tickled when it's like "sounds like their other band" because like...yeah he's the driving creative force in both lol.
Quick update, the Alt Press store responded back to my email. I confirmed with them I still want the album (duh!) and they responded back that they would let their warehouse staff know, and will provide a shipping status update "soon."
I remember, believe it was during the Handwritten press cycle, that Brian or someone else mentioned how Horrible Crowes hurt the band a bit because they would have been willing to have those be TGA songs if that's what Brian was writing. We truly have come full circle.
I don’t think I ever received that email but thank you for letting me/us know edit: just double checked and I got an “ongoing shipping delays” email
Drove back home to Cincinnati from Detroit today and listened to the new album, Get Hurt, Handwritten, Sleepwalkers and most of Elsie—perfect soundtrack to a beautiful, autumn drive. New record is great!
I wonder if people in the 80's had these same conversations about, say, Phil Collins and Genesis songs. "Sussudio was technically a solo song but everyone knows that should have been a Genesis hit" "I can't believe he saved Take Me Home for the solo album. I bet Mike Rutherford is pissed." "I Can't Dance is so weird, why wouldn't he just make that a solo song?"
I think moving forward there’s going to be a lot of “this could have been a Brian solo song” considering he mentioned in that Kerrang interview that anything he could do solo, he feels like would fit right in with Gaslight now. I genuinely can’t think of a single song in his entire discography that couldn’t have fit on a Gaslight record if he so chose. I hope one day they start incorporating his solo stuff into their sets. “Smoke” or “My Name is the Night” in a Gaslight set would be sick as hell.
It's not like I want to hear fewer Gaslight songs at future shows, but I never got to see Brian solo, so I'd love to hear any of that stuff in a live setting someday. They should go full Bruce and play three hour sets that span all of Brian's work.
Saw these guys for the first time in over 14 years last night and had a great time! I liked that they varied up their set a bit (played at least two songs off each full length), but was surprised that History Books only got two songs, and neither of them were History Books or Positive Charge. Would've been nice to hear those, but that just leaves room for things to get excited about for next time!
I would not expect solo Brian stuff at Gaslight shows. They already have 6 albums and an EP of material to play. Plus, I read somewhere that Brian likes having the solo runs (preferably in seated theaters) for his own personal enjoyment.
So awesome that I’ve been living under a rock long enough this year for this to hit me out of nowhere.
I'm good without Brian solo shows to be honest. I caught it a couple of times, it was fine but nothing I'd say anyone has to go see.
Of the solo tours that I've seen, the one he did branded as Brain Fallon and the Crowes was my favorite. Good mix of solo, Horrible Crowes, and a piano rendition of 59 Sound. At this point, he has enough solo and band material, that I like keeping them separate, unless he wanted to do a Bruce, where he is committing to a really long set. Not holding my breath for that, so I will just enjoy both outlets coexisting.
where did you order from? i ordered the pink one from their official store, along with a tee, but it still hasn't shipped yet..
