I think I rank this the lowest of the gaslight anthems but that doesn’t mean I don’t love it and still rank it above the solo albums
I think trying to rank albums immediately upon first hearing them is really pointless. I need time and life experiences with memories attached to music to truly get a sense for where an album ranks. Unless I just don’t like it at all right away I guess. I could see history books being right up there at the top for me eventually, it certainly is a wonderful work of art.
This probably makes zero sense but Get Hurt has a lot of songs I like but its by far my least favorite "album" of Gaslight for me.
I think I agree with I think it was @Craig Manning, that I’m able to enjoy Get Hurt more without “this broke the band” weighing it down
I like being objectively wrong so why not 59 Handwritten Painkillers American Slang Elsie Sleepwalkers Sink or Swim Get Hurt Local Honey History Books is phenomenal. I love the wistful melancholy of it all. It's making me want to go back and revisit Local Honey in hopes I was dead wrong about it.
Local Honey rules. It really helped me through the early days of the pandemic, it was like comfort food.
Definitely agree with this, I think it's why I'm having a hard time connecting to the new Menzingers album, some of the songs just sound so general, standard rock songs that could be written or sung by anyone
My record isn’t coming until November 1st now. I’d have been better off just not pre-ordering and going to my local newbury comics. Bummer.
I feel like I keep railing on this, but I think it’s so dumb that you can preorder a record months in advance, the artist/store has it in hand ahead of release day, and they can’t get it to you until a week after the album comes out. It shouldn’t be that hard to get these to customers by release day. (Said by someone whose copy won’t be here til Monday.)
