Yeah, I can't say for sure that it is my favorite of the songs released so far because I love them all, but "Positive Charge" is the one whose lyrics hit me the hardest emotionally right now and just really resonate.
"Desire" is an okay song that happens to be on an incredible album. The problem with it for me is that "Blue Dahlia" is just so much better, and it sits in a place on the album where it should kinda be the crescendo* before "Mae" mellows things down a bit and "National Anthem" gently sends you off into the sunset. "Desire" isn't up to that task on an album with so many amazing songs on it. (*Crescendo isn't really the word I'm trying to use here but I'm hungover and struggling to make sense - it's the last banger on the album before the penultimate mellow track and gentle closer) In a hypothetical scenario where "Blue Dahlia" made the album and wasn't a b-side it would be one of my favorite songs on the album. I can't say the same for "Desire". Not even close.
Both intros 'Where did you gooooooo?' 'What's that you say?' are quite literally constantly in my head and have been for months.
Pretty sure the long rollout was a vinyl thing due to getting the Bruce feature recorded well after the rest of the recording
Between menzingers, the first blink album with Tom in forever, and first TGA album in nearly a decade is October 2023 the greatest music release month of all time???
This has been my experience 99% of the time. The only ones I can ever recall receiving a day or two before official release was A Black Mile to the Surface and just recently, No Joy. Most vinyl that I pre-order comes well after release date. Also, I can't even remember who I pre-ordered History Books through...I think it was straight from the band's website. My confirmation e-mail was from Merch Central.
