Great write up. Really happy to hear that the album is good, I love the first three singles and am pumped for the rest of it...I hope they play all three of the singles at Riot Fest this weekend. As someone who fell in love with the band when I was 19 and am now turning 34, I welcome a mellower and more mid tempo album (same with the Menzingers). I'm guessing a lot of TGA fans are sort of in the same boat where we all grew up along with the band.
I was at the show last night. The “Michigan, 1975” listening party was a nice treat, and that’s definitely my favorite song I’ve heard from the record so far. But the new songs also just sounded awesome live and the setlist overall was a lot of fun (if a little short).
Have fun!I remember my first Gaslight Anthem show.I wasn’t fan AT ALL.I was there for Against Me! then Gaslight Anthem went on.Blew my mind. And I became absolutely obsessed with anything Brian Fallon related.
Seen Gaslight 14 times I think and Fallon solo 3 times (twice with a band, 1 time solo acoustic). Enjoy your first TGA show!
They were incredible at Riot Fest last night. Brian brought Deanna from Sincere Engineer up to sing 59 Sound, she seemed so giddy it was awesome. They also brought the guy from Chicago Music Exchange up to play a few songs. Also I thought Brian’s voice sounded fantastic.
I think they went on around 9:15 on Saturday. Make sure to get there for Donovan Woods' opening set, though. He's really terrific and very funny.
Ehhh they should probably come back to Boston first. We’ve got an international airport so they can head to Europe afterwards.
damn, these are near identical stats to me and i remember being bummed about missing this one but catching them a couple of times on the fall tour that year, those being my first shows for Gaslight. bet we have been at a lot of the same stuff lol
