Classic Gaslight! My favorite for sure of the three released so far, the way they pick up the tempo in that instrumental break between verses is interesting. Brian's verse sounds great. Also "Positive Charge" came on right after and I don't know what they did but it sounds a lot punchier in the chorus. Maybe I'm just getting used to how 2023 Gaslight sounds now that more of the pieces are falling into place.
I relistened to these on Spotify and I do think there might be some subtle differences in the mix. Could be wrong, but they sounded a little better. Most evident to me on "History Books." New song is great, though! Some American Slang vibes for me.
At least on Apple Music there were two versions of that one for a bit, the quiet and the correct. But that was also just a mistake where the volume of the album as a whole was too low, which I don't think was a mixing issue.
I get American Slang vibes too. I think part of it has to do with Brian's vocals, he sounds like he did on that album to me.
,,And you were young and beautiful And I was dumb and beautiful” line gives me chills and almost bringing tears in my eyes. American Slang was such big album for me 8 years ago when I almost lost my eye & was dealing with some heavy life situations. Glad to hear the similar tunes once again.
Glad somebody else picked up on this, it caught me by surprise but I loved it Also I don't think the first two singles are remastered, I just think Little Fires sounds dirtier/messier so the other ones now sound cleaner by comparison
Asked the firm doing PR, they said nothing's being changed. The music video audio couldn't have been changed, and sounds identical.
Has anyone considered the idea that repeat listens may make it feel clearer than your first couple go arounds?
I told myself I wasn't gonna listen to this new one because I wanted to save it for when the album drops... ...and then as soon as my ass hit my driver's seat when work got out I threw it on. Song is fucking awesome. Songwriting on this one really reminds me of American Slang, only with different / scruffier production. 3 for 3 so far. I can't wait.
Yeah you can 100% reupload albums/songs, it happens all the time. I've done it myself. That's why you can like a song from an album and it will show up in your liked songs (on Spotify) but then go to the album and it will not show that you've liked it. Because it's referencing an older version.
YouTube can replace videos if you're important enough, but this isn't that. I have mp3s from when these songs came out and they sound the same.
