Idk it’s all rumors and conjecture that I haven’t been able to find any info on so I’d take it with a massive grain of salt

That's why I said that - I can't believe they'd agree to that being the case.

i am built so differently that i am simply going to enjoy a brian fallon solo album and not remotely worry about what it could maybe, potentially, hypothetically, mean for the status of band the gaslight anthem. highly suggesting you all participate in this practice with me.

I can't really fathom having songs this good and just figuring you'll write more songs just as good for Gaslight Anthem later on when you feel like it. Insane talent.

by my count the man has written, I believe 11 albums of material, and the number of bad songs is zero and the number of “good not great” is like 7. Max. Insane talent - I concur completely

I enjoy these prolific creative streaks Brian gets into. From 2007 to 2008, Gaslight released Sink or Swim, the Senor and the Queen EP and The '59 Sound, on top of Brian dropping random solo tracks online going into 2009. Then American Slang and Elsie were about a year apart. In that whirlwind, he was even going to record an album with Chuck Ragan but that fizzled out due to scheduling conflicts, I believe.

Which is to say, even if it's rumors, it wouldn't surprise me that Brian has more material ready to go for Gaslight.

Halfway through reading I was going to say you'd better bundle in American Slang, Elsie and Handwritten because that is all basically a 5 year stretch during which he recorded (conservatively) 30 of the best songs I've ever heard across 6 albums.

Yeah Brian Fallon’s 2010-12 run is something else. It’s a muggy summer night in Philly, perfect for spinning Elsie on vinyl.

Mind boggling how soon after their debut LP the 59 Sound came out and what a leap forward it was. One of my favorite albums of all time ever, ever, ever. A perfect 10.

One of the craziest things about Brian’s songwriting is how few songs he actually seems to write. It’s wild to think that he didn’t write 20 songs for The ‘59 Sound and pick the best ones… he just wrote 12 awesome songs that also perfectly hang together.

I absolutely cannot wait to hear the Brandon Flowers track. There’s no way these two don’t make magic together.

also, agreed that the man hasn’t written any outright bad songs or albums, but goddamn if 59 Sound, American Slang, Elsie and Handwritten isn’t a generational run, I don’t know what is.

Sleepwalkers rules. I know nothing about that album screams ‘Jamaica’ (lol) but I listened to it a lot when I was there visiting my girlfriend (now wife). She was teaching there and I would take her car during the day and explore and jam that album.

It’s his best solo album and better than History Books.

Interesting you say that, my wife (whose favourite band is The Menzingers) Could never get into TGA but she came around on See You On The Other Side.

He should really do that thing where he just co-names Elsie and the Horrible Crowes catalogue with 'Brian Fallon' on streaming so that pops up when you look for his other solo works.

(See also Jason Isbell / 400 Unit)

  21. the HC thing is funny too cause if you add that in to the BF catalog his plays shoot up even higher in my lastfm

all three combined and he's a top 5 artist (gaslight at 11 right now)

Sleepwalkers was the album that finally got me into BF/TGA, so that will always be my biggest soft spot.

Your wife is wise. That song is SO GOOD, and he does "that type" of song so well.
