I hadn't spent a lot of time listening to the History Books - Short Stories EP until recently, but I really love the sound of the reworked Blue Jeans and the acoustic Positive Charge - a whole album exploring that sound would be killer I love when bands do an acoustic version that is all of them playing and not just the lead singer and an acoustic guitar or piano
Preludes might be the prettiest song this band has ever written and some of Brian’s finest lyrical work. What a song.
Saw the guys this weekend in Vegas. Very solid, I'm always impressed with this band even in an opening slot for Counting Crows (weird tour to me, crowd was older for sure). TGA definitely won over a few folks around us. Brian also introduced everyone, including Emily Wolfe. Not sure if that means anything but she sounded great doing the Natalie Prass harmonies on "Have Mercy." I also saw where they last minute cancelled their subsequent date with CC, so I hope everything is okay with their camp.
Seems like the cancellation was due to security at the casino giving them a hard time for having their kids backstage at the show since it’s a casino and they technically weren’t supposed to be there. Sounds like security were being super shitty to them so they decided to just not play
That is crazy to do to the entertainment/talent coming to your casino. This entire tour is just weird for TGA to do.
I just saw a clip on TikTok of Adam Duritz addressing the situation and backing up Gaslight’s decision to leave saying that the staff was being very unprofessional and that he was sorry that they left the show
Just popping in to say I still love this. Has to be my favorite “morning with a cup of coffee” album.
Still think the album dips a bit at the end, but I can’t lie and say Spider Bites through the Weatherman is undeniably up there with anything in their catalog and is a perfect listen for this time year.
Probably my least favourite on the record too but I was lucky enough to hear most of it live over two shows last year, and then the remix and remaster solidified it as a brilliant album.
Completely unrelated but I couldn’t sleep last night so I listened to Local Honey and that album continues to grow on me.
Empires is really good. I think if this album had one more up-tempo song in that back half people would feel better about a lot of things, but I don’t mind it.
