I hadn't listened to any Painkillers era songs in a while, and I went back this morning and tried to give album "Long Drives" a chance to see if time had softened me up a bit, and I still can't do it to this day - sounds artificially slowed down like trying to drive a car with your foot pressed down on the brakes
I can't separate the album from all of the associated other tracks in my mind, so I think Painkillers is my favorite era of his solo albums. but "Hard Feelings" might be my favorite solo song of his I would have to think long & hard about this
"Hard Feelings" is an amazing song. I remember being relatively lukewarm on Local Honey at first, in part because the world was in an absolute dumpster at the time, but that song hit me so hard right away. On the "favorite solo song" discussion, it's either that or "Etta James" for me.
Watson, Neptune and See You On The Other Side to close the album are crushingly good think that record doesn’t get enough love overall
these aren't in order, but my top 3 would be "Hard Feelings", "Open All Night" & "Watson" (but "Etta James" & "Low Love" are *right there*)
Sure does. Some days I can convince myself its my favorite gaslight album (and then I remember that 59 sound exists)
Prolly little nightmares or color me black for me. That entire album I love...except Etta James...which is extremely unpopular lol.
I don't think I have a clear #1, but I will say that the lack of love for Get Hurt makes me want to say that some version of that album mixing in it's bonus tracks (especially "Have Mercy") would be in the running for their best
do you mean the most played song off that album at live shows? last played 6 nights ago in Seattle lol why do you post the way you do
the couple times I have seen them, it's always a huge treat when they rip into a Sink or Swim song. good fun.
I think it was you that originally triggered my love for Have Mercy lol. I do agree thats a phenomenal song that should have made the album proper.
I agree, although I can't tell you where it should go! IMO, that song is so good that they should have rearranged / rethought the entire tracklist to make it work. just too great to not be on there. it might be my #1 Brian Fallon song of all across all of his projects, but I am not quite sure I can definitively say that
