oh yeah this was definitely not going to be a grandma EP

no album up on apple music yet, though that doesn't disqualify it from being an announcement tomorrow. definitely getting the tour and single, am expecting an album for october

the actual band is always just brian and matt

one of their old touring members was such a nice dude, miss when he was in the band

 

I guess I never realized it was just the two of them

 

first time i saw them was as a two piece with a laptop doing the trumpet and some other parts, haha. saw them then another two to three times as a three piece before finally settling into a four piece around early 2013

 

Ciarian and the vaguely Martin Starr looking dude aren't actually in the band?

 

i mean i think they're considered actual band members by the band but they were members added later on to flesh out parts. i think of it as like a pinegrove situation to a degree, while nandi and others are in the band and help with songwriting and stuff pinegrove still has its core members

 

Not gonna lie, I kind of miss this lol. They obviously sound better now, but Matt doing the laptop parts was a lot of fun and made for a cool/weird show experience.

 

Bummed to say I'm not wild about the song on first listen. Hopefully its a grower.

 

you've been seeing them for even longer than i have iirc, haha. like, pre s/t.

i said this story to some friends last night too but i remember like, mid 2010 i got a 2 month advance promo CD for the s/t and i wasn't feeling it at all, but then i saw them coheadlining with mansions in a half full 200 cap and i became obsessed. seen them like, 8 or so times now? wonderful live band and super nice guys every time i've met them. interviewed them when they opened for MCS and brian just grabbed me and gave me a huge bear hug and we hadn't ever met, haha

 

tour dates starting to pop up now, prob an announcement within the hour
