First time I saw Front Bottoms live was in 2013 when they opened up for Bad Books and Kevin Devine came out and performed Maps with them. So cool.
Maps was the first song I heard by them, got me into them really fast. That gdp split has a couple of their best songs, wolfman is incredible
great interview mook Mountain and Looking Like You Just Woke Up and The Beers arent really all that great imo. I like them, theyre charming like pretty much every TFB song, but they dont do a whole lot for me. Plastic Flowers, Twin Size Mattress, and Swimming Pool are my 3 favorites
I WILL REMEMBER. THAT SUMMER. AS THE SUMMER I WAS TAKING STEROIIIDS. CUS YOU LIiiKKEE A MAN, WITH MUSCLES, AND I LIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiKE YOU. Sorry but that's as good as good can get y'all. Get your ears checked. I could see why someone wouldn't like the song. It's a little over the top and silly even for TFB.
"Raining" has me back listening to Back on Top and god damn, 2YL > West Virginia > Plastic Flowers is such a good 1-2-3 to end an album.
Is it raining where you are? The only question I could think to ask. Nothing ever hurt soooo bad as the no that you said back.
Honestly, Back On Top has very few "weaker" songs. Historic Cemetery and Ginger are the only songs I don't think are incredible, and even then I still really enjoy them.
"Ginger"and "2YL" are those weaker spots for me and, similarly, I enjoy them every time I listen. The rest of that album is just so goddamn good
The Front Bottoms Setlist at The Stone Pony, Asbury Park this show was sooo good. you wouldn't be laughing
Yesssss. Last time I ever got to hear More Than It Hurts I think, still one of my favorite songs by them.
2YL is one of their best, the horns make me smile every time. Least favorite on Back on Top is probably Ginger
Historic Cementary grew on me. I'd say Ginger is the only meh one. Love that album, easily their best.
