Talon is an incredible record. Au Revoir, Skeleton, Twin Size Mattress, Funny You Should Ask, Tattooed Tears, Lone Star and Everything I Own are fantastic. The only iffy songs on that record are Peach and The Feud.
HELP, Wolfman, and Tattooed Tears are my favourites from them overall. Also, I really dislike The Beers. I just don't like the chorus at all.
Also in the "I don't really like cough it out" camp. It's fine, but one of my least favorites by them overall. Right up there with Peach.
Looking Like you Just Woke Up is my favourite TFB song but Cough It Out is probably their best written. Love that.
The Beers is easily the song that made me fall in love with this band. Super cool that everyone has different songs that they love/dislike though. This band has something for everyone.
Yeah I was think that's a sign of a good band, if everyone has different favourite songs. It's like the conversation going on in the TDS thread now.
flashlight is definitely the best on that album i think maps is overrated, that's one of my least favorites (but it's not bad)
The Beers, Flashlight, and Father are the 3 songs that were stuck in my head when I left the show the first time I saw them before I knew who they were. It's so rare that I actually remember specific songs a band I'm unfamiliar with played, but the chorus of the Beers and Father, and the end of Flashlight stuck with me. I thought it was really funny but also knew there was weight to the songs, and from that point I knew I had to start listening to them.
this is the top tier. laugh til i cry, the plan, funny you should ask, 12 feet deep, and wolfman take the second tier down
I'm actually partial to West Virginia (and Plastic Flowers) over Cough It Out does that make me a bad person?
I'm really realizing right now how strong the back half of Talon of the Hawk is. Definitely the best side of any of their albums. Everything I Own doesn't get nearly enough credit.
I'd say Twin Size Mattress is their best and most definitive song, and Rose is probably their best output.
