i don't understand how someone can think peace sign has lyrics any cringier than the rest of the band's discography though

 

I still like this a lot. Might like it better than Back on Top overall.

 

tbh the band has always had one or two lines in each album I find cringey but there's just something about Peace Sign that grates me like nothing other than the chorus of The Beers.

Literally the Beers and Flashlight are the reason I love this band. I remember seeing them open for MCS and I just loved the funny but also emotional vibe they had right away, and a lot of that came from the chorus of the Beers. Never have the lyrics of a band that I was seeing live stuck out to me so much.

 

I've honestly just never liked it haha. I don't hate it but it makes me cringe a little. Still a great song though and it has grown on me lyrically.

 

I think most of their lyrics are cheesy leaning on bad, especially early on, but it’s part of the charm of the band. No other band could pull off the things that they do

 

The Beers never hit me until I saw them perform it live for the first time in 2012 and that's when I became completely in awe of the song. Still one of my favorite live songs.

 

Yeah I don’t think anybody has ever come to this band for the lyrics, haha. There’s a charm about this band I’ve adored since I was in high school and I really don’t know what it is. But I’m into it.

 

I couldn't disagree more. The lyrics are very specifically a highlight of this band for me. It's because they're so goofy at times, but they present them so earnestly that the whole thing just adds to the charm, like others have said. On the surface it's all laughs and good times, but then there's the underlying desperation and that dichotomy is what I love most about them.

 

oh yeah, people LOVE their lyrics. i just think the lyrics fit for this band in a different way than many others

 

Absolutely, songs like Flashlight, Funny You Should Ask, Flying Model Rockets and more have all had parts that have really stuck with me. Hell, one (Tattooed Tears) even convinced me to end a relationship when the second verse resonated too much with me.

Number one moment in this bands history is the Commentary they posted for Talon where they said that they would never smoke weed cause it would upset their moms, and a good chunk of the fan base actually believed it.

Number two is the skit in the middle of the HELP music video.
