I finally got around to this and really, really enjoy it. Some of the press about this album had me scared but I was happy to disagree and be happy with it! :)
This is definitely top 3 if the year for me. Think I’m gonna have to give #1 to Paramore, but second place is a toss up between New Found Glory and The Front Bottoms.
Yea for me it's looking like this, Paramore, and Bleachers will be my top 3. There would've been a *different* album up there too, but...
The peace-sign-middle-finger lyric is so quintessential Front Bottoms. Really reminds me of “He says ‘hey you’re good at that’ and she says ‘thanks, it’s kind of all I’ve got’ and then she looks away and says ‘it’s also all I need’” in Flashlight. Brian has described little mannerisms like that very well throughout their career.
They do in fact do it live (myself included) an it was great. Also, "I can tell that he's asking her yes or no questions by the way she's shaking her head from left to right and then up and down and the left to right again"
Really funny you are guys are talking about Peace Sign. I listed to it last night and found it annoying/cringey by halfway through. Today I started the album over and skipped Peace Sign and was pleasantly surprised how good the rest of the album is. Don't know any of their other albums much at all but I dig this one.
I would love Peace Sign if the guitars weren’t so compressed. Sounds like something I’d get off Limewire in 2004.
Lots of cool/weird stuff played at champagne jam tonight, was not expecting that going grey bonus track at all. Really fun show, they played as a 6 piece (I’m pretty sure drew was back on keys? At least it looked like him from way back where I was.) The Front Bottoms Setlist at Convention Hall, Asbury Park
Boo to both of you Peace Sign and Everyone But You are both great songs. I still maintain that you have to see Peace Sign live though it was easily my least favorite before that.
love that one! only song i think that compares to how bad this one is for the last several records is peach
I'd personally rank Everyone But You as one of the worst songs on Going Grey (although I don't dislike it) but I could see it being a bigger song for them than any of the other songs on the album.
Everyone But You being hated is strange to me. It's pretty much up to par with the rest of the record, with the exception of Bae and Vacation Town.
