I really didn’t like it coming out of the theater, I though Wes Anderson, maybe my favorite director to that point, had finally gone too Wes Anderson for me. But I’ve liked his stuff since then so I’ve been feeling like I should revisit it
It’s probably in the bottom half of his movies for me but I genuinely love all of his movies so that doesn’t really mean much coming from me
I still had the same problem rewatching it yesterday that I do think it kind of sexualizes Susie and doesn't really address the fact that the star crossed lovers are 12
I think my issues with it are more where I was at going into the movie than the movie itself. I only saw it the once and really love almost all his other films
I haven’t seen it since the theater but remember not loving it. I really like the Darjeeling Limited though. Haven’t watched it in a while so I wonder how I’d feel about it now.
