I've only been able to skim through songs in the car and need to give a proper listen over some good headphones but I think I can safely say that Back To Life is the most catchy song on this for me and a banger that will certainly get replays. Not sure that the others are really gripping me, but I'll give it a fair chance later.
I mean this in the most no offense way possible, but sometimes I learn about how some people explore or listen to music and it breaks me completely for being so far from me I didn't think it was possible to exist. Skimming through an album while in a car for the first time? For a band I've waited 20 years to release new music? This is truly a "are we of the same species" thing to read. I mean this with no ill-intent, just a "I feel like I have seen a new species of animal in the wild" observation.
Considering a run through with the Dolby Atmos version, but not quite ready for it yet. I want to get more familiar with the stereo version first. In my experience, they’re either really cool or really fucking awful.
“If you don’t release any music or do anything, it only takes a few years” to regain your anonymity, Ruess says. “And it’s great.” “You’re easy to forget,” Ruess says. “The only people that in the last five or six years would stop me were Format fans.” Crying in the club right now
I’ve experienced this being out with people in a noisy bar or somewhere like that seeing something new and just hitting play on their phone and holding the speaker up to their ear lol
Every time my fiancée’s brother has played music in the car, he skips to the chorus and then skips to a different song entirely after the chorus. Genuinely insane
No Gold at the Top and Depressed are hitting hard for me. I really dig the heavier guitar tone when it shows up throughout the album. Was hoping for more of the the bonkers and wide variety of instruments that was all over Dog Problems tho.
I miss the feeling of waiting for CDs when I was younger. Getting home from school, going to the mailbox and finally getting that new album that I had no other way of listening to. This new album is one of the few times that I'm going to make an experience. I still haven't streamed it today and since I've held off listening to the singles (besides Holy Roller) for this long what's a few more days waiting for a physical copy? I'm tempted to turn off shipping notifications so I don't even know when it will show up. And then after we put the kids to bed I can sit alone with the album and immerse myself in it with no distractions. I can't treat every new album like this but this is one of those rare times where I can. I'm trying not to build too high of expectations but honestly, even if I don't like it (which I seriously doubt), I just want the chance to be intentional with it. Also not meaning any offense because there are so many new albums I stream at work and don't give full attention too. But this is a band I never expected to get new music from and I'm going to enjoy this to the fullest
lmao fair, I was driving to work and got a notification that the album came out - it's a busy day and I was impatient and curious because I love this band :P I am notoriously impatient. Since I was a little kid reading my Magic Treehouse books I have been the type of person who reads the last few pages of a book to see how it ends before finishing it, which is why my impatience also leads to me enjoying spoilers to shows and movies, too lol
By skim through I meant I skipped the songs that were already released as singles that I had already heard due to the short car ride Just meant I didn't give it a full cohesive listen from start to finish on good headphones. Don't worry, I wasn't partially listening to songs
