Discovered a bunch of my favorite songwriters through AP, thought it'd be fun to start a thread to share more recommendations. Who are all of you listening to right now? For me, I went to a show last night to see David Wax Museum, but left blown away by their co-billing band Darlingside. Great musicians, amazing harmonies. Check 'em out.
Dawes is at the top of their game right now. It was also great to see Jason Isbell get some Grammy wins. Always love seeing him succeed
Anyone check out the Sam Beam/Jesca Hoop collaboration yet? Got around to listening to it last night and am loving it - Sam and Jesca balance each other out really well.
Gregory Alan Isakov recorded an album with the Colorado Symphony that comes out next month. Highly recommend checking him out if you haven't given him a shot yet. He released this video of "Liars" a few days ago. The build up toward the end is beautiful. Can't wait for this to come out and catch his tour with The Ghost Orchestra.
Recently discovered Horse Feathers, somehow I had never heard of them before. Also been listening to lots of William Fitzsimmons, Great Lake Swimmers, and Joe Purdy.
Does this apply to older folk, too? Cause I've been digging some Doc Watson and Peter, Paul and Mary lately
I've loved them for literally as long as I have memories. I was like 4 years old and knew every word to their concert that used to run on PBS. Getting to meet Peter Yarrow was one of the highlights of my life
I fucking love Joe Purdy's discography. I'd only ever heard Julie Blue until a month or so ago but since then I've been working my way through all of his albums. I haven't grown to love an artist this quickly in years.
ive been listening to more folk/singer songwriter recently but need more recs. i'm a big fan of that sad bastard shit like Nick Drake, Andrew Bird, Jose Gonzalez, Red House Painters stuff i also love me some Avett Brothers tho. Any obvious mandatory listens I'm missing?

A couple of fantastic folk albums come out tomorrow between Wooden Wand and Joan Shelley. Also been really into this new tune by James Elkington.
Any of you guys check out A Blaze of Feather? It's Ben Howard's new project. I've been getting up at like 3:00 to work, and the layered atmospheric folk is fitting the early morning darkness perfectly. They've got an ep and a full length out so far.
Since being on here it seems like a decent amount of people in this community like folk but there are a few bands I haven’t really seen talked about. I’m surprised when I searched for Seryn, nothing came up. Did any of you listen to this album? It’s one of my favorites from this genre. This album is like the post rock of folk with long instrumental sections and builds. It’s got stomp your feet and shout along parts and whispering quiet beautiful parts. Also, the first song is definitely the worst if you decide to listen to this. Beach song is one of my favorites.
I absolutely love this band, in particular their Shadow Shows album. I too found it surprising that they don't get more traffic on this site. They've released a couple of singles over the past year or so. Hopefully, they come out with a new album!
