1. New song "between our teeth" came out a few weeks ago. Really not sure how spotify's release radar algorithm works considering... 2. I'm still spinning New Ruin regularly. What a great, great album that I still feel went largely under-appreciated.
This album is solid for sure. If I weren't so absorbed in different genres these days, this would probably be more of a favorite of mine. I don't often feel a big pull to put it on because I'm listening to other stuff, but when I do put it on, I fucking love it, even the songs I was iffy on at first.
Their last 2 albums have just been absolutely boring, aside from a few songs. What happened to the band that put out The Great Awake, Cavalcade, and Dead Language?!
I hate to say it, but The Flatliners, The Menzingers, and The Gaslight Anthem all put out boring, dad-rock now. It's a shame.
I love the enthusiasm. I remember when Cavalcade came out, it was easily one of the best albums I'd ever had the pleasure of listening to. His reactions/comments on their stuff helps me relive that a bit. The album holds up perfectly. Probably my favorite of theirs, honestly.
The art and some of their teasers seem to indicate a transition from the New Ruin aesthetic to something with ocean-motifs. I'm guessing they've got a full album coming and the art will prominently feature the sea or something.
Ripper. Band now on Equal Vision - the artwork and captions seem to be pointing toward a follow up/companion LP to New Ruin? Or ya know, this could just be a one-off.
Song keeps growing on me. Also, a bit random, anyone listen to Sunliner? Their 2022 self-titled really reminders me of the flatliners. Just came across them.
Saw them on Saturday at War on Xmas and the set was kind of a bummer. I like the last 2 records but didn't need over half the set to be from those and the new song. Missed a lot of what I would consider staple tracks Here Comes The Treble Performative Hours Eulogy Public Service Announcement Hang My Head Caskets Full Indoors Tunnel Vision Mammals Misanthropy & Me Rat King Count Your Bruises
the flatliners are a great band who were never able to write a setlist to match. Maybe one day they’ll give us that cavalcade tour Covid ruined.
