I have no idea what’s worse between Quantumania & Flash because I performed self care by not watching either. (Love & Thunder was fun schlock, though, imo. My life would’ve been fine without it, but I had a good time in the theater with it. But, I also just generally find Thor rad, so whatever!)
My act of self love is watching only Sasha's scenes thereby avoiding Ezra's stupid face as much as possible. apparently I missed the bulk of the bad cgi Love and Thunder was so much fun, though! I mean, sure, the big bad could've been fleshed out a little more, but we got to see Natalie and Tessa kick some ass! The one thing it did right was it mostly kept everyone together to bounce off one another. My main gripe with the structure of Quantumania is that they split everyone up for most of the movie. Even so, I wasn't disappointed overall. A lot of superhero movies the last few years turned out just okay, and that's okay with me. Multiverse of Madness had some pretty cool parts despite basically ignoring WandaVision. Even Shazam 2 got a lot of laughs out of me. The only one I actually finished that I actively disliked recently is Black Adam. Boring and soulless
The most I expect out of a Marvel movie is a fun ride that will take my mind off my fears and anxieties for two to three hours before I plunge back into the uncaring void that is reality. I am never disappointed.
Except for that one scene, I really liked Eternals too tho! But it doesn't really feel like a superhero movie
Yeah, but that’s because the MCU has a loooot of bad movies now. Being the 10th worst is still an awful movie. It’s so so bad.
I didn’t mind Eternals, it just seems weird that we never really hear about the events of that film in the other films. Like are those giant statues still randomly in the ocean?
Maybe I'm just tired of hearing about it, but I feel like people are thinking about this way too hard. It was mentioned in She-Hulk in a news article, but there's plenty of reasons why they wouldn't have come up in the events of each movie, up to and including people not giving a fuck. You might think that's impossible. Our real world suggests otherwise.
It’s really dumb. All the other MCU stuff is so connected that you have to watch 27 movies and 13 tv shows for each new movie that comes out except for this crazy thing that happened in eternals that is never talked about.
Y’know, if y’all wanna spend this much time thinking about an unsuccessful comic book adaptation, you could at least pick a more interesting one. Like… when’s the last time any of you watched Howard the Duck? Shit’s genuinely hilarious in some places.
I guarantee there are a lot of things that happen in each movie that don't get brought up in every single movie after, but this is the one people choose to laser-focus on. Also, the whole "have to watch every movie" thing is also ridiculous. My mom watches this stuff and she can't remember everything that's happened and she still enjoys them. I'm starting to think people just love to complain.
I def have more respect for Howard the Duck than most of the recent DCEU and MCU movies. Oddly, James Gunn seems to like Howard and he's made the 2 movies in both universes I like from recently memory. Go figure.
I'm cool forgetting it even happened. If I could erase that last Doctor Strange, Ant Man, and probably a few others from memory too I'd be a happier man.
You'd think so, and I'd like to say I'm just jaded enough with our real world that it seems realistic to me for it not to be mentioned, but I think the reality is that I'm the one who doesn't care.
