Just saw there's another Kacey Musgraves song on here where she is actually credited so that's pretty exciting
I.... don't agree haha. Initial listen of this has it as my least favorite from them in a long while. It's so... lifeless. It's slow and moody, but not in an engaging way... I dunno, I didn't find a lot to love her on first listen
Still only heard the pre-release songs. Will You Return, Flowers of Neptune 6, and You n Me Sellin' Weed are all up there with the best Lips songs. Dinosaurs on the Mountain and My Religion Is You are enjoyable enough to me. Very curious to hear the rest
I really like it, but this is also right up my alley, especially from this band. P4K gave it a favorable review too which I wasn’t expecting https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/the-flaming-lips-american-head/amp/
I’m pretty happy with this. It is a little bit long and kind of similar, but I enjoy the vibe enough that it doesn’t really bother me and there enough really fun moments that the payoff is worth it (you n me sellin weed, assassins of youth come to mind).
it's fine for me. generally pleasant but doesn't really ever go above that (to be fair doesn't dip below that either) about what I expected from Flips in 2020. opener is a definite tune though
completely amazed by how good this is. i love a handful of their other albums but haven’t been wild about the output since the terror. this is pretty high in my ranking of their discog
really? haven't listened lol. honestly not sure I've listened to any of this band's post-2000 output since I made that post haha
peep it. the concept is wayne watched the posthumous tom petty doc and saw they spent some time before heading to California in Oklahoma, and imagining their sound if they were collabing with petty in the 70s. which.... kinda sounds dumb but they also nail it?
oh yeah I actually remember reading that a few months back and being vaguely intrigued but never listened. I will now tho
