Hey! Apologies for the shameless advertisement, but here we go! :) This is Jeremy and I sing in the bands Touche Amore and Hesitation Wounds. I figured this would be a good place to promote the podcast I started a few months back. It's called The First Ever Podcast where I interview artists of all kinds about the first experiences that lead them to where they are now. So far I've talked to musicians like Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria, Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra, Brendan Yates of Turnstile, Reba Meyers of Code Orange, Tim Kasher of Cursive, Scarypoolparty, and more. As for other art forms, I've talked to photographers like Atiba Jefferson and Courtney Coles. Tattoo artist Dan Smith. Illustrator Alex Pardee. Producers like Will Yip and Ross Robinson. I'm coming up on Episode 18 next week and I figured making a thread here would be a fun way to discuss the show outside of instagram. I'll pop in here each week to say hi! You can find the show here pod.co/the-first-ever-podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thefirsteverpodcast/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/thefirsteverpod
I had no idea you have a podcast. I'll definitely be checking out the Tim Kasher and Claudio episodes. Love those guys.
Been meaning to check out the Claudio ep, and now I’m very excited to hear the Robinson one! Hope he also discusses his other albums he produced(Slipknot, AtDI etc.).
I've really enjoyed every episode! After hearing all the stories about Ross it was really nice to see a different side of him definitely seems like an awesome guy. The bike incident story with Slipknot was great
I love this. I think that the folklore narrative has certainly painted him as a loose cannon with people's emotions. From first hand experience I can say with confidence that its coming from a place of him deeply needing the artist to give to realest version of themselves in their art from a place of love. This can come with some clumsy mistakes, but the intent is pure.
It's a cool one! I wanted to talk to Reba as she's much more strategic with her answers than say Jamie. Jamie is a friend and all but Reba's calm cool and collected demeanor was what I was going for. Her talking about the work they put into each record was really inspiring and should be considered by anyone else ever hoping to record.
I think I'm just a fan of how they operate and them as people. It's all very different than how a lot of us would approach things and its often fascinating. I buy every record they put out to support them, even if it doesn't hit my turntable often.
I've listened to part of the Claudio one, need to finish it soon, Coheed have been my favorite band for a long time, and I've loved Touche for a while now too, cool to see the worlds finally colliding. I don't think a tour would be too far fetched, yeah? PBTT opened for them in 2012, B&C in 2013 too.
Episode 18 is live with this weeks guest Chloe Chaidez of the band Kitten. She also on the Netflix show I'm With The Band: Nasty Cherry Main Link- Here Apple Podcasts - Here Spotify - Here You can find all the other place to listen via the main link under the "subscribe" button.
Thanks so much for listening. What an awesome guest he was! Truly has lived such a cool life so far. I respect so much how motivated he is whether its with music or exploring other aspects of life.
Finally caught the Claudio ep! Loved hearing about the bands origin. Interesting them originally naming another band Toxic Parents, and then finding out it’s a book for recovering addicts.
Episode 20 is live with my guest this week - Masterchef / Topchef star - Graham Elliot! I’m so thrilled to have the shows first chef on to celebrate Thanksgiving week! I’d never met him before so I was a bit nervous but this man is a goddamn charmer. Graham opens up about his first experiences cooking, working at restaurants, and being on television. Plus we discuss his punk/emo/hardcore roots, Masterchef, cooking for Obama, and so much more! Hell of a talk!! If you’re interested in the culinary arts or just love listening to a good chat, I think you’re gonna have a great time here.
Man I was not ready for that Ross ep haha. Dude is so charismatic, and his personal stories were a treat. His mom’s story of his birth lol. Ashtray on her stomach.
