Awesome read. I've had a love/hate relationship with AP but it was one of my favorite sources for news. I'm excited for you and this new beginning
I had an alcoholic slushie that I was sharing with my friend, and someone from the group came over with a round of tequila shots. I being a small and driving meerkat, did not partake. There was one shot leftover. Some kid that was part of our group but that I had never met before walks over, picks up the last tequila shot, and pours it in my slushie. The moral of the story is: on AP, someone would pour tequila in a stranger's slushie. On Chorus, we respect each other's drinks. Don't be a dick.
I tried to say goodbye: Closer to the Truth and Further From the Sky: How Music Mended Broken Hearts: A Farewell to AbsolutePunk Too many awesome people to tag, but thanks especially to @Jason Tate, @cshadows2887, @CoffeeEyes17, @Meerkat, @Cody Nelson, @Blake Solomon, @DaydreamNation, @Serh, @Chase Tremaine, @troyplaysbass, @Aaron Mook and anyone who ever read my stuff, recommended artists, or dealt with my constant gushing about Bruce and Butch.
Haha. It's pretty crazy. Gonna try to enjoy a little today, get something good for dinner and some beer, and then handle all the transfer of social media accounts, things that auto update, and all of that insanity tomorrow.
Can't get over how clean this looks. I keep switching back between this and AP and my eyes can barely handle the latter now, it's like going back in time.
I read AP throughout high school and just started to comment on posts a couple years ago. AP and listening to the Encore Podcast has really shapped my music taste and helped me discover many bands that weren't on my radar. I'm excited for the next phase. Didn't use the forms much on AP but I guess Chorus will change that. Thanks for AP Jason and to all the writers that contributed to the site.
It's cool being able to actually sit back at my desk and read through threads without squinting/leaning forward. In all seriousness, I lurked AP for years, and finally actively started posting a while back (ginandbruce). I have a ton of memories from AP, and I'm pumped to come over here. Congrats, Jason!
I know what you mean. It really does make me feel like I'm in a time machine on that site. Like my body and mental state felt different visiting it since it'd been such a part of my life since before I could drive. It was hard to escape that. It was such a routine. In some ways it feels like such a clean start and a shedding of so much baggage.
It feels like for the past month we've all been here setting up for this big party, and now the day of the party is finally here. All of the guests are starting to arrive. Some bottles of champagne have already been popped but this is just the beginning. I'm so happy to be a part of all this.
I'm just really excited to search for everything that I possibly can, the site looks great Jason, excellent work!
I can't wait to see who will be the first to get thrown out of the party for public urination and lewd and lascivious behavior!
P.S. Getting rid of comments on news post might be one of my favorite changes, haha -- must've been a no brainer.
