This month we're doing a "non-male" covers compilation. If anyone is interested in contributing, come over and join the conversation! Chorus.fm Member Compilations - NO BOYS ALLOWED (Due-April 16)
From what I know, I believe it's just a standalone track they decided to release. They've been doing so much touring lately, that I don't think they've had time to work on an album yet
if anybody wants to write up a Friday feature like @Spencer Control is doing (just read his and you'll get a sense of how to write it. two sections - one about the artist (who they are, how they sound, their history etc) and one about a particular song (what it's about, how it sounds, why you like it etc). then include links to their social media accounts), just PM me with it and include your e-mail address (if you want to stay anon we'll just use the default profile). also if you want to interview any one artist in particular, just PM over like 4 or 5 questions unique to them (we've got the inclusion/feminism part covered) and again make sure to include FB/Twitter/Bandcamp links. If nobody answers this then no worries, it's just not something that takes up much time and we'd like to keep the blog going while we still can. I'm just not listening to much music like I used to and don't really know about many artists like most people here seem to.
Female DJ from Chicago who's pretty outspoken about progressivism: Artist of the Year: The Black Madonna On the Beautiful Paradox of Being a Catholic DJ
Debut album announced for end of June. They have kind of a Wet or Broods vibe, but I think I like them more than both of those groups.
Noname: Tiny Desk Concert her lil smile is too adorable. also really cool to see her super talented band can reproduce her lush production
This band's debut album was nice, but ultimately too much of the same thing over and over. If this lead single is any indication, the new album is going to expand their sound. I dig this track
I came around to her latest after a bit, but Something In The Water is forever the greatest song and that album is excellent
Probably the strongest vocals I've heard of any modern indie band. These four girls do a fusion of indie, jazz, blues - and the vocalist even scats in a couple tracks. It's an incredible blend of music that sounds amazing, and the group is crazy talented. This is my favorite song of theirs.
I like the summerish vibe. Side Note: Lead singer looks like if Aubrey Plaza and Hailee Steinfield had a baby.
