@Noradrenaline @Jason Tate Any other punk recommendations, preferably of artists / groups still putting out music?
Familiar with Brody Dalle at all? Formerly of The Distillers and Spinnerette, but now a solo act. She's married to Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, and was previously married to Tim Armstrong of Rancid.
Billie Marten Love all I've heard from her so far and I think this latest track is her best yet. Hoping for a full length this year. Laurel Serious Florence and the Machine vibes from this. Bonzai Love her new Sleepy Hungry EP. Probably my favourite release from this year. The song below is by no means an album highlight. No Rest is the one to check out but it's not on YouTube. Dua Lipa Don't know much about her but this new track is great.
I feel like a lot of folks ignored the tracks that Michelle sang on from Straylight Run. They were solid. Her current band Destry is really good and has two albums up on bandcamp. I think they're name yout price.
You can stream Adia Victoria's Beyond the Bloodhounds now. All the Southern goth of Lemonade's visuals, now with more blues.
I really want to like this, but the lyrics are too lusty teenager for me. Are the lyrics in her other songs better?
Just listened to that record for the first time today. The lyrics are definitely not the strong suit of the project. Desire's lyrics especially are pretty groan-worthy. But it's pretty interesting and somewhat musically unique for the space she occupies.
I would recommend checking out her two EPs which are widely considered to be stronger. Although 3 songs on her "Make A Shadow" EP were included on the album (Make A Shadow, Desire, and The Morning After). Some of her best songs are EP exclusives (Adelaide, Monster, Heart Heart Head, After You, Go)
I'm sure it's already been mentioned but Camp Cope's S/T debut is fantastic. In my top 3 of the year so far.
