I feel weird about the thread title. Like there's an implication that a lot of female artists aren't worth checking out.
There's a really great female-fronted band that I have never really heard much mentioned of; they're called Shallow - anyone ever heard them? I really like their album "Jumping Away From Something Exploding."
Backing ROMP and Petal as well. Petal put out a great album last year and ROMP put out a great album this year. One might even feel inclined to say ROMP is tight.
I've only listened to that ROMP record once, but it was sweet and I need to revisit it. Looks like no one has mentioned Laura Stevenson in here yet, so I'll encourage anyone who hasn't listened to Wheel to do so.
Credit given where credit is due: both ROMP and Petal were recs from @bornunprepared. She's the go-to for solid recs in that genre.
also if anyone is into pop music, both Rachel Platten and Tori Kelly put out solid records in the last year
That reminds me: I've been enjoying the AURORA album lately. Very much for fans of Ryn Weaver. Great pop music out of Norway.
I was obsessed with Jule Vera's EP last year. Still jam to "Friendly Enemies" when it comes on shuffle.
I adore her. I made a collage of great writers in my English classroom and she and 2pac are the only musicians I included
I've listened to a little bit of her stuff. She's friends with Eda so she must be a pretty cool person.
My recs are gonna overlap with the POC/LGBT thread but the ones that I definitely rec are The Skins and Adia Victoria.
