I love that you feel that way. I wish I did. The first 3 had me seriously hooked, I loved them and they are so well written. The next 2 specifically were a major slog for me. Wayyyyy too world building heavy for the sake of it, but then the endings are awesome so it keeps me going. It’s possible that since I was caught up by that point, I had forgotten a lot of the nuance of the characters by the time they came out. I am this invested so far so I got the new one and am kind of pumping myself up to start it haha.
what has been basically this entire year has been an awful reading slump for me, really trying to kick that this week. i still have to finish most of the sando SPs. i've started a handful of things but nothing's really stuck. it's funny that i came in here to see some slight red rising talk because that's what i think i'm gonna start this weekend. (also will definitely be doing a stormlight reread next year of course, my memory is garbage)
Red Rising has more books and seems to be an easier-to-follow series whereas Will of the Many has 1 and the ending just makes me want book 2 even more! I might read RR soon too though because I feel like I need to after all the talk!
Okay, last call for anyone who wants to participate who hasn't already said yes. In about 24 hours I'll make assignments. In the meantime, I get to price out repairing a broken car window. Yaaaaaay.
Okay, Christmas assignments are going out. I’ll PM everyone who they’re buying for and an address, so let me know if yours has changed since last year. A lot of us are connected on Goodreads, but feel free to post wishlists or format specifications or whatever!
Ordered. Will be there Dec 1st. I've been dying for someone else to read this series lol, I hope they like it.
Went ahead and ordered for my person as well. December 5th delivery for some reason. Works well, since Hanukkah starts on the 7th.
ok here's my shelf, pathetic compared to some here https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/16072026?ref=nav_mybooks
I'll make the same joke as last year, which is that if someone wants to get me a Sanderson leatherbound, I won't say no. I don't think we've got a limit, I'm assuming most books are going to be anywhere from $7 to like $20, which seems fine to me, but maybe we just all use our own discretion and don't go crazy?
if I had the funds I would get myself one then everyone else haha. Yeah, that’s my thinking anyway. No super special editions that cost a fortune etc
Mines has now been ordered but it’s a December 12-13th delivery which sucks but we will see why. Won’t say much more except I LOVE this book and I think more people need to read it.
It's the absolute best! The series only gets better and better, the most recent book is top tier. Make sure to let me know what you think! It's dark, complex, does not hold back when it comes to social justice, and there is very little fighting to start, though when the fighting does eventually come its epic as all fuck. Since you're a Malazan veteran I think you'll be fine.
Well I loved Hyperion from 2021's exchange, I'm currently reading the sequel to the book from 2022's exchange, and this looks awesome so I think I'll be fine too. Thread has never let me down!
