just finished book 2 of Mistborn. Really enjoyed it. Actually almost teared up at one point, which rarely happens when reading. On to book 3! Then I can jump into the Stormlight Archives like the rest of you nerds.
Anyone on here a fan of 'The Book of the New Sun' by Gene Wolfe...? I bought a copy right before my first kid was born and it's been sitting there for a few years collecting dust, but they're getting to an age now where I can get back into a little reading.
I wept like a baby at the end of Mistborn 3. It was so damn good and beautiful and perfect. I almost tear up just thinking about it now.
I’m currenrly listening to book one of The Belgariad. I don’t know if I like it or not. Anyone read this series?
Has anyone checked out any of these chapters? Already pre-ordered. Looks so damn good. Read the First 11 Chapters of Jenn Lyons’ The Ruin of Kings
I read it years ago, it's a good series but it's pretty safe. It's the traditional farmboy hero novel. I liked it for what it was but, to be honest, wasn't exactly groundbreaking
Earthsea is a perfect example. 200 pages of Wizard of Earthsea and it broadened my fantasy scope tenfold.
read some summaries to refresh my memory on the first two books and now i'm ready to restart book 3 and resume malazan. gonna actually do it this time. 2019 is the year i will finally make progress on my quest to finish/catch up on malazan and wheel of time. i said this in 2018 and i think 2017 but i really feel it this year.
Wheel of Time and Dark Tower are my 2 commitments for the year. Not gonna finish WOT of course, but at least get a couple more books into the series
TOR does that really frequently, release a huge chunk of the book leading up to release to build hype even for more established stuff, I remember they released I think the entire first act of Oathbringer leading to release.
That's really cool. I'll have to keep an eye out for that kind of thing in the future, when I don't have so much to read
Finally finished The Great Hunt and picked up where I left off in Deadhouse Gates. Was a little disorienting at first, but I think I'm back into the swing of it. Really want to start The Ruin of Kings next due to all this hype.
