Honestly, I read them a long time ago and I can't remember specifically if the second book is better then the first, but I do remember being in the exact opposite situation as you: I devoured the first book really fast and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the second book to start it.
It’s the same type of thing, so unless you’re invested in the characters I probably wouldn’t bother then
Awesome, glad the quality holds up. Glad I’m just jumping in now so the wait hopefully won’t be that long for the new book
Hey everyone. New to the thread so hope it’s ok to ask. Just got a free audible trial and I’m after recommendations. My favourites from the genre are the mistborn trilogy, Patrick Rothfuss and VE Schwab. Any ideas what I should be checking out? Cheers
I might give it a go. I finished the trilogy and it was so perfect I was frightened to be disappointed by the sequels! Is the standard continued?
It takes place many years later, in a new age so to say, so I don’t think it ruins anything that happened before. They’re also a little different in tone. They’re more, uh, adventure books. I really like them though. The good thing is Audible lets you return books if you don’t enjoy them.
I haven't listened to them on audible, I read them, but you could always start Sanderson's ongoing series The Stormlight Archive. It's amazing. The books are super long so you'd get your moneys worth. The 4th book comes out this year. My other go to recommendation for the genre is The Dark Tower series by Stephen King.
Finally finished Kings of the Wyld and what a rush. Such a humorous book that does not deter from the fantasy at all.
I thought it was hilarious. Quick read but it was great. Really great concept with bands and tours, too.
I want to say I found out about it from this YouTuber who just constantly talks fantasy novels. He sold the concept for sure.
I don't excel that much confidence for YouTube! Reminds me I need to get started on Fires of Heaven shortly.
thanks for the heads up. I had the physical book way back at release but never got around to reading it
Started the Blade Itself but I think Kings of the Wyld got the humour in me started so I've started Discworld.
At this point in my life, audiobook is the only way I have time. But, I buy hardcovers of all the ones I love usually.
My preferred is paper/hardback. Nothing like a good book on the train/outside/whatever but at night I read an e-book. I haven't been able to get into audiobooks in the same, I just can't do it.
For fantasy I usually do e-books or audiobooks, unless it's a series I just absolutely love I might buy it on paperback/hardback. I just read too much fantasy and don't have enough shelf space to buy every fantasy book physically.
