You should check out her first book, Maeve Fly. It's pretty much American Psycho, but Patrick Bateman is portrayed by a Disney Princess.
Just finished my reread of Memories of Ice and goddamn. Falling in love with this series all over again. Bridgeburners. First in. Last out.
don't know how people feel about Tanith Lee, but she's the latest Humble Bundle https://www.humblebundle.com/books/...ex_3_c_tanithleecollectiondawbooks_bookbundle

I am hating the Devils, just non stop gross out “humor.” It’s also my first time ever listening to an audiobook and this narrator in unbearable, the main character is a woman and he’s doing a horrible high voice for her. There’s also a lot of Speedy Gonzales style Mexican accents. I don’t know if audiobooks are for me. I’m at least going to need to find readers I can stand
Steven Pacey rules. I also have been relatively perplexed by the general feelings on The Devils. It didn't feel much different from First Law humor and characters to me personally.
I'm basically all audiobooks these days but I understand why people may not like them and the performances if it's not a format they typically do. I really like when a narrator makes an effort to differentiate characters. Yeah sometimes the accents are weird but it still makes it immersive for me and I appreciate the effort from the performer. My current top narrators are: Jonathan Keeble (does a lot of Warhammer fantasy stuff and Ken Follett.. incredible voice work) Jeff Hays (Dungeon Crawler Carl) John Lee (legendary sci-fi guy) Steven Pacey (Abercrombie guy) Samuel Roukin (Sun Eater) Andrew Wincott (Osten Ard) James Marsters (Dresden) Ray Porter (Project Hail Mary) Edoardo Ballerini (Silo, Matthew Corbett) Rosamund Pike (RIP her not finishing the WoT rerecords) Kate Mulgrew (NOS4A2 is incredible) Scott Brick (Dune, Gap Cycle, Thomas Covenant, lots of classics)
I listened to one of the Carl audiobooks and it was decent but I still prefer to read them. Part of it is my mind wanders when listening to a book instead of reading it.
yeah ADHD prevents me from focusing on eyeball reading for extended periods of time unfortunately. but doing audiobooks during menial tasks works well for me. do I retain EVERYTHING? absolutely not, but I get enough.
Jeff Hays was definitely still figuring out the voices in the first couple of books, hence why Carl was basically Patrick Warburton for a bit lmao
I've been walking around randomly saying "prepare for beeyattle" in Jeff Hay's Prepotente voice since DCC8 ended.
The same narrator did his other series and gave one of the characters the worst lisp ive ever heard and I had to give up.
I really love Tim Gerard Reynolds (Red Rising, Michael J. Sullivan stuff), Ray Porter, MacLeod Andrews, Jeff Hays, Kramer/Reading, Travis Baldree (sometimes). Definitely forgetting some. I'm 600+ audiobooks deep at this point.
I've been reading Michael J. Sullivan's "Rise and Fall" trilogy this week (about to finish book 2). I always forget his books exist, but I always really enjoy them when I'm reading them.
I started the second book in the Captives War series, The Faith of Beasts, and I don't know if its because I'm just coming off of the insanely fast paced DCC books, but this is dull as hell.
