The difference between Red Rising and Golden Son is like the difference between Will of the Many and Strength of the Few on steroids. Dark Age and Light Bringer had some truly immense moments. Planning to re-read the series once we have a Red God release date. (Also planning to re-read DCC next year before DCC8 because I need it.)
Brigands and Breadknives has none of the spark of Legends and Lattes for me. About to dive into Suneater 7 starting tomorrow.
I just finished DCC but started the audiobooks lol. I was listening to one on Spotify but it got taken down. Had to get them all on audible.
just finished Shadows upon Time and man. What an incredible book and ending. What an incredible series. I know it has it's group of detractors, but I truly can't fathom even remotely enjoying Sci-fi and not finding something you'd enjoy in this series. While I wish we were getting more, I thought it was a fitting end. If you're at all interested in the series, I think it's truly worth the 7 book + 3 novella + 4 short story collection journey.
Finished last night. I was iffy on the ending until I read a Reddit theory that Selene is with Hadrian on Colchis, having been sent there to be a librarian. He mentions that "we will be leaving Colchis" and mentions two cups and chairs. I was heartbroken by her ending but this gives me hope.
There's an account on IG that specifically platforms indie authors. They're doing a 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway. Every day you can win free books/ebooks/audiobooks from indie authors. I'm participating in several days, including today! Enter to win a free ebook courtesy of yours truly, or simply enter because there are other authors participating that are cooler than me:
Alright - I sent my book out. I appreciate being included again. It was fun trying to find something, and I got some ideas for books for myself for the new year in the process. To the lucky recipient - I hate to have done it this way, but I ordered from they who shall not be named, but it'll have a note that it's from me in there (username). I also got a gift receipt in my email so if there are any issues, give me a shout.
mine will be going out tomorrow - our account got compromised and someone tried to do a bunch of fraudulent charges, so our debit cards got shut off. we didn't lose any money, they took care of it, but we both had to wait for new debit cards, which came today
I will find the truth of this theory today from Christopher Ruocchio AT ANY COST. I have a signing soon.
please report back. he isn't on discord anymore so all of us in the Red Company discord are curious haha
Lol this is more of less exactly how it went down. Then I clutched my chest, thanked him, and cried a single tear.
Almost finished with King Sorrow and not sure how I feel about it. I’ve enjoyed my time with it but I don’t think it’s actually good
Finally got to reading Jurassic Park. I’m a huge fan of the original film so I’ve been looking forward to the book. That said…I was a bit underwhelmed. The first quarter is amazing. Great pacing. Jumping from attack to attack. Almost like reading journal entries before jumping into the main story with Grant, Ellie, etc. Once they start the park tour and the Dinos break free it becomes a mess though. Constantly going on circles and it felt like the author had no idea on where to take the story for a long period of time. I’ve always appreciated the moral story of Jurassic Park, merging the consequences of trying to play God, while also showing that the misuse of scientific advancements will show a decline in morality and the danger of it. Which the film did excellently. The book, on the other hand, did keep the same view, but goodness. Malcom would break out into monologues about the topic more than a dozen times, often reiterating the same thing. Like, we understood it the first handful of times lol. Overall I’d give the novel a 6/10
im about 60 percent through, and I like it, but its definitely not on the same level as Nos4A2 or the Fireman. This just feels like a couple of short stories thrown together.
