The DDC spinoff comic about Florin goes live on BackerKit at noon: The Dungeon Crawler Carl: CROCODILE graphic novel Launch Party
quick poll, how many books do you all read at the same time? I've got 3 going on at the moment (holy trio of audio/ebook/physical) but I hardly ever do that. I keep looking at my shelf and want to start like 10 more series but I can't justify it until I finish the current reads. I'm a very slow reader too. Someone send help!
One at a time for me. When I was in school I would be reading something for fun along with whatever I had to read for classes, but that's the only time I would double up.
recently often have one going in physical form and one ebook on my phone for long trips, public transport and plane rides
Usually just one audio at a time. Sometimes I’ll have an entirely unrelated physical/ebook for chipping away at during certain work tasks, but my iPad just died so I don’t currently have that option.
I read one book at a time, but I do listen to audiobooks to help me fall asleep at night, so I have some books that I've read before (usually many times) where I love the person's voice for that
I actually read one book at a time (usually novels), but I listen another while falling asleep (usually fantasy) and another one while taking walks (usually non-fiction)
1... Anytime I have tried more, I don't enjoy each book as much as individually. I could probably do a graphic novel and a book, but not two novels. I also like to binge if the series is readily available. I try to support up and coming authors and reading books as they come out, but if I get into an old series that's complete, or has multiple volumes, I'm binging those before jumping to another world. I don't often get burned out and need a break (though I have admitted posts back that I did take a break from stormlight when I tried to read 5 right after 1-4) and I wouldn't go back and say read the entire WOT now - though when I did read it, it was definitely in 4-5 book chunks before I needed a break.
Looks like I'm the odd man out haha. I tend to have quite a few going at once. Usually only one audio, but multiple digital/physical. Right now I have... an ebook sci-fantasy, an ebook epic fantasy, a physical YA thriller, a physical literary fantasy, an audio fantasy, a physical folktale collection, a physical nonfiction, and a couple graphic novels. The distinct genres/audiences probably helps. But yeah, I've always had a bunch simultaneously.
I'm pretty sure my dad does this though - he's always got a few different non-fiction books that he's reading at any given time, and if he reads a novel (usually on my recommendation) I'm 90% sure he just throws it into the mix and reads them all at the same time
I do the same! I think of my reading diet similarly to watching TV: I can keep up with multiple stories at once and want to be able to shift depending on my mood.
I got the eARC for the final book but I'm in the middle of Ashes of Man on my reread and I'm having to fight the urge hard to drop the reread lmao
Netgalley. It went up on the Uk one like a week and a half ago so I created a fake Uk account and they basically approved everyone. Apparently it’s up on the US Netgalley now.
Perfect. My friend owns an online bookstore and has access to it. I'm near the end of book 5 right now. I'm reaching full on obsession levels. Shame it doesn't seem like he'll be at Dragonsteel this year.
Totally missed when the last War of Light and Shadow book dropped, pumped to read that. New Malazan and Joe Hill books at the end of the month too. Got some good reading ahead. Nearly done with Disquiet Gods…which is great. It wasn’t really until Kingdoms of Death that the series clicked with me, but I’m here for it now Oh and more Black Company coming too
see this is what I'm saying, I need to read 10 books at a time to keep up. Memory, Sorrow, Thorn is calling me
