Not really - and especially not what appears to be a lot of romance based anime / manga. No judgement, just some interesting titles / covers on there.
Picked up some indies and they are all beautiful now just have to wait for @OwainGlyndwr 's signed hardcover to get here!!
Finished the faithful and the fallen series. Thank you to the person that gave me Malice for the book exchange. gonna read Children of Time next
I started Dungeon Crawler Carl. It didn’t seem like my thing, but after all the hype my favorite booktubers give it, I decided to try it. I’m a slow reader, but I’m flying through this. I’m laughing out loud and digging the world so far. I wish they all weren’t in hardcover only. There’s going to be an eighth book soon and they’re all pretty big. My shelf is already overloaded!
My BIL started doing this with B4 and has been raving to us about it. Think I’ll give it a try with book 5
My favorite audiobook gag is when Donut types in all caps so Jeff Hays yell-talks it. It is never not funny to me.
With my ADHD, I can’t do audiobooks. I’m way more of a visual person. I tried podcasts and I had to keep rewinding.
Just saw that the paperbacks are starting to roll out with the new covers. Just book 1 so far but book 2 next week.
They were all indie published first and part of his hardcover deal was he had to take down the paperbacks.
I have a Discord server I'm in with a bunch of friends. I have turned no fewer than 15 people onto DCC through this server. We're all nuts about it now. Dinniman is so hot right now. I think it's hilarious that so many books reviews I read or see on TikTok for DCC go something like. "I hate funny books and video games but DCC actually does these things I hate well. 4 stars I will be reading more of them."
It's funny that I was "just ahead of the curve" with DCC; I'm never that lucky. My friend got me into it, I shared it here, and now it's inescapable in like less than 2 years. So happy for him.
confession: I don't really have any desire to read DCC or Red Rising. I'll get around to them eventually I guess but there's so many other series I'd rather read first
I didn't really have any desire to read DCC either, but hearing so many people talk about how great it is here made me change my mind about it, but I also have so many other books & series on my TBR list if there is a trilogy or series that I haven't read that is currently even remotely close to being completed soon-ish then I've been feeling like I should hold off until they are all out
Almost done with book 5 of DCC. I'm waiting for a time where I can binge the last section as the entire book has basically been build up to it, so waiting till I have some quality time for it. I'm beyond impressed that despite the silly premise, how 'deep' it is, and the overall plotting seems so well thought out. I have had to reread multiple sections to follow along with the politics. Shout out to Jeff Hays and the videos that have popped up of him transitioning between all the voices. They're hilarious and wildly impressive. You know it's a big series when the book makes the limited shelf space at the airport.
Did you see that Hayes asked about narrating Farseer from Robin Hobb? I really hope he does more traditional stuff because he is fantastic.
Yeah I’m one of those people (except i like video games). Never would have gotten into it with out Garrett sending it for Christmas
I didnt and thats great as the current audio books suck and they swap narrators between trilogies. The liveship traders are even worse. I love that series and would relisten in a heartbeat with him.
