I'm curious to see how his stuff is getting edited for the re-releases under Broken Binding's publishing house. They confirmed the new edition coming later is edited.

Is everyone reading the ebooks or listening to the audiobooks for Cahill? Because I have never seen his physical books in the wild

I want to say I got all the ebooks for $0.99 during some sale, and then got the Audible audiobooks via whispersync for cheap.

  5. Reading through book two of John Gwynnes the faithful and the fallen and there’s too many characters and locations I cannot keep them straight lol. Have to refer to the map and list of characters every chapter it seems.

recently reading and loving The Devils, plus the Abercrombie talk on the last page, has me thinking that I should read his newer trilogy in the First Law world, but it's been a long time since I've read those books, and I don't really remember them well at all. I might do a First Law & standalones reread and then tackle the Age of Madness trilogy.

Does most of his stuff take part in the First Law world?

as far as I know, yeah - it's just his YA Shattered Sea trilogy & now The Devils that don't

    DCC Update:

Just finished book 4 and while I liked the others a fair bit, this was the first banger of the bunch. Fully invested in just binging this out now before reading anything else. I love how absurd and unhinged it's gotten, but it never seems to break its own rules so it just works. Good stuff.

twice now in recent weeks I've picked up a regular fiction book (ie not fantasy or sci-fi) from the library based on reading really good reviews, and both times I was just completely uninterested in even starting either of them and just returned them both without even cracking either of them open

I just finished book 4 too - love this series so much, and was my first 5 star rating for the series. Buckle up is a great omen lol

Definitely one of those series I wish I could read again for the first time. Probably my biggest surprise over the last couple of years because I was a staunch LitRPG hater

There’s a particular scene involving Mongo in Butcher’s Masquerade that made me come to a complete standstill on a long run because I was laughing so hard.

Yea, it's my first 5 star as well. I think because there's more continuity? I don't generally like 'adventure / mystery of the week' stories / shows, and am always looking for that continuing thread and it's now clearly finally here. Sure, the floor will change and the quests, but I am enjoying the more connective tissue to the story now so that's what has finally got me all in on it.

If I enjoy the rest, I will probably try to put together a Carl Cosplay for an upcoming Con in September as it seems pretty DIY friendly and I'll have fun sussing out all the details that I can craft.

Last year I did my first one as Jacket from hotline Miami and I didn't even think it was that good, but I got so much attention and comments that I want to do something else that doesn't have to be perfect to be recognizable or appreciated.

I'm doing it y'all. I'm finally reading Lord of the Rings {via Andy Serkis narrated audiobook} and I'm on chapter 8. Really enjoying it. I've tried reading the actual book before and had a hard time with it but this narration is excellent.

I grabbed The Blade Itself from the library and I'm diving into my Abercrombie reread. I'm about ⅓ of the way thru already. I usually am not crazy about grimdark, because the world is pretty grim & dark itself right now and I think I read a lot of times for an escape and to help myself relax and feel normal / okay, but Abercrombie is so damn good. It never feels like grimdark for grimdark's sake, if that makes any sense. Moreso that the story he is telling happens to be pretty grim and dark and violent, but he is so creative, and such a good storyteller, and he's damn funny.
