bit of a stretch, but I'm pretty excited about this I'll always have a soft spot for this film, warts and all
I can't remember if I've told this story before in here, but I emailed Ralph Bakshi in middle school (or maybe early high school) about his LOTR movie and he responded to me and it actually seemed like it was from him
Sorry to quote this from five months ago, but I found it from search after I finished the book this morning. I thought it was really beautiful.
DCC Update Just finished book 3. I don't think I enjoyed the central premise / mystery of the book as much as 2, but this one had some of the best plot moments so far, especially seeing some of the planted threads come together all the way from the first book. There's now a lot of those out there that I probably won't be able to keep track of them all so I'm sure more surprises ahead - just because I'll probably forget about an item, or a prior interaction to have it pop up again. Good enjoyable series thus far - now my issue is do I blow through all 7 or break them up?. I ended up dropping Rhythm of War due to a slump and I really want to get back to that. I'm still torn on if I do better with enjoyment, if I binge a series or split them up.
Started the first one on audio a few days ago while painting. I’m about 10.5 hours in and enjoying it for the most part! Still unsure if I like the narrator or not. Definitely gives some character to Carl.
So, I am having a good time with Ryan Cahill... but this man wears his influences on his sleeves HARD.
Started Saga of the Forgotten Warrior series from Larry Correia recently and am on book 2. Pretty fun Also read IT (absolute masterpiece) and decided to keep going with King and now on The Stand.
happy birthday to The Servant. I think a lot of you would enjoy this one. It’s got my whole lifetime of loving fantasy wrapped up in it.
To the thread: Very worth it!! Fantastic read. It will remind you of the things that made you fall in love with the genre in the first place!
Anyone read The Devils by Abercrombie yet? About 3/4 of the way through and really enjoying it. Has summer blockbuster energy and goes down easy
I'm halfway through the third book of The First Law trilogy. It's my first Abercrombie and it's been a fun ride. Seen a lot about The Devils this summer though
I'm pretty close to finishing The Devils right now myself, and I've really liked it a lot. it's taken me forever to finish because of work, but it really feels like the type of book I would have devoured over like 2-3 days if I'd been able to read it like I wanted to. I haven't read any Abercrombie in about a decade, but I loved his First Law trilogy and the standalone novels in that world that came out a little after I don't often laugh out loud while I'm reading, even if I think something is pretty funny, but Abercrombie gets me to laugh out loud fairly regularly
