Haven't read Malice but really enjoyed Jade city and the sequel - I didn't finish the trilogy and will read it from the beginning again before doing so (I have no idea what happened and it's odd to say that I liked a series without following it through but sometimes moods change / life happens blah blah blah). I'm bummed the Jade City adaptation fell apart as it's an extremely cinematic read. I think one day it'll happen. But yeah, no idea what you read, but that's a great choice and I think a good read for just about anyone. It blends so many genres and types of fantasy. It's urban fantasy but not really? It's basically a fantasy mob story with some rich characters and tons of cool action / intricate plotting.
I've made the mistake of having 3 large books in progress at the same time and in differing qualities lmao Top tier - Witchwood Crown Solid tier - The Eye of the World Serviceable tier - Wool
Sorry so late, busy and tired lately. I just sent out my package should be there friday, so if you haven’t received yours yet know that you’re not forgotten! This is one I’ve had in my back pocket to send to someone for a while. Its somewhat expensive but for good reason and like I said I’ve just been looking for an excuse to order it for someone lol. received my book a few days ago (again sorry for late response). Kings of Paradise. Looks awesome, thank you very much, I know I’ve seen it in my RIYL before. I’ll be reading that after I read Wind of Truth. cuz i finished the new DCC and it fucking ruled. Faction Wars delivers. I’ll wait to talk about it until more people catch up
I always get extreme sticker shock when it comes to graphic novels. I’m almost strictly a sales/clearance shopping kind of guy.
I really like Ballerini as a narrator and really enjoy the show and so far it’s been relatively faithful. Easy read ultimately
after a brief break trying to decide what a good post-WaT cleanser would be, landed on cracking open DCC. through the first half, what a delightful blast it is. i would die for princess donut.
You’re in for a fun ride. I binged up to book 7 this year. Just waiting on audio before I start book 7
I remember reading the whole series way back when he first put them out in book form, and a lot of the press back then was about how he had self-published them online initially - I remember enjoying them and them being a pretty quick read, but nothing earth-shattering or classic or anything. I definitely didn't regret reading them or think about not finishing the series or anything.
Yes, the overarching series is silo. Wool started off as self published novellas that became a whole book, then theres a prequel (shift) and a sequel (dust). They are all worth reading. Wool is arguably the worst, as it doesnt read quite like a full novel with how its paced due to being stitched together shorter pieces. The author is heavily involved in the show and its pretty close but with additions. I havent watched any of s2 yet but i dont think its going the same route of a full prequel story before the conclusion. Im not even sure if the prequel is alluded to or if apple intends a whole spin off (probably the latter for $$ reasons....) It has been renewed for s3 and 4. Edit - nvmd, didnt see you say youd read - info for others.
man, dcc rules. immediately moving on to the second book. have a feeling i'm just going to roll through the whole series.
I’m so glad DCC is exploding. It really felt risky giving it last year and hyping it so much. The way I feel about these characters by the end of book 6 rivals some of my WoT, TSA, etc favorites.
Absolutely. I fully plan to get a Donut tattoo when I can afford it. GOATed series already. Just hope the landing is stuck.
Fantastic selection @theagentcoma! Books I’ve never read but have always meant to (and don’t already own). Thanks so much! (And they fit so well thematically with The Garden Knight! :P)
I wasnt expecting a package, but received a notification that i got one so i believe its probably from this exchange. Im travelling till the 30th (its safe till then), so i look forward to collecting it when i return. Just so nobody thinks im being rude or ungratefull! On a reading update, im flying through rhythm of war on my travels. Almost done with part 2 and im enjoying it a lot despite people close to me saying its their least favorite stormlight. I like it more than oathbringer thus far, but going back to back to back to back, they have all sort of blended and its hard to rank them. Wind and truth to start 25 here i come!
