Humble Book Bundle: A Wizard of Earthsea and More by Ursula K. Le Guin (pay what you want and help charity) Excellent deal (though exclusive to Kobo fyi). I haven't read nearly as much Le Guin as I should, so I think I'll snag this.
Also just a reminder: lemme know in the next couple days if you're participating in the gift exchange this year. I'll do another mention before I finalize the list and make assignments.
Okay, final reminder, I'd like to make a list tomorrow and get out assignments because otherwise I'll forget and won't remember until January. If you'd like to participate in this year's chorus.fm Fantasy & Science Fiction Book Exchange Extravaganza, please let me know! I'll randomize assignments and you can send a book of your choice (any genre, any format) to someone. So far confirmed we have me, @theagentcoma, @Garrett, and @Vivatoto. How about @GBlades, @FlayedManOfSF, @tvck, @Dave Diddy, @a_cuppa_joe, @Brother Beck, @Helloelloallo? Any interest? Let peer pressure and low-stakes bullying work on your consciences and agree, it'll be fun, we'll all get copies of DCC!
Okay I’m in. What if we send/receive a book the other person has already read? Or do we ask before sending?
In years past we've used Goodreads to try to figure that out (I've halfheartedly made a "books I own but haven't read" shelf to try to avoid that), but if there's a better way, I'm all ears. We've generally preserved the secret santa aspect of it, where you don't know who has you or what you'll get until you open it - but if you want to field queries through me and I can ask the person if they've read a certain book, we've done that before too.
ah okay, yeah Goodreads makes sense. I’m in, that being said if its an odd number and we can’t find another, I can also drop out if that makes it easier.
Nah. I mean, this is the SFF thread, so that's generally what we've done, but unless anyone has a real problem with it, I'm gonna say literally any book is fine as long as it's chosen for a reason haha
I sent a horror one once, but knew the person liked the author and it was one I loved they hadn’t read.
I would love to. Thank you. I've followed years past, but let me know all the rules for how participating works and I'm in.
Awesome! It’s pretty simple, I’ll make a list and DM you with who you’re buying a book for. It can be physical, digital, audio, whatever. I’ll give you whatever address is needed. And it can be SFF or whatever other genre, just something you think they’d like. I can field any questions if you want to know if they’ve read a certain thing or not. And then I get that same information from you. You send your book to someone, someone sends to you, we all have a good time reading. Pretty chill.
sure I’m in. I would need my counterpart to like take a picture of their bookshelf or send me what they read so I have an idea.
